Inter Bell Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shintora-Dori CORE, 4-1-1 Shinbashi, Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Katsunori Tanaka) has signed a sponsorship agreement with the Tokai Gakuin University Baseball Team (Gifu Prefecture). Along with placing the Inter Bell logo on the team's uniforms, the company will launch a new initiative to support the recruitment of student-athletes dedicated to women's baseball as new graduates, aiming to help them balance sports and employment.
For student-athletes seriously continuing women's baseball, the overlap of their practice and match schedules with internships and job hunting periods is a severe challenge. Many are forced to choose between "baseball or a job," often having to give up their sport or compromise their future careers. In response to this situation, Inter Bell goes beyond mere sponsorship support; the company is working to create an environment where athletes can focus on their sports while simultaneously securing their careers.
■ Details of the Initiative
[Sponsorship Agreement / Logo on Uniforms] The Inter Bell Co., Ltd. logo will be featured on the uniforms of the Tokai Gakuin University Baseball Team. A bond between the company and the student-athletes will be forged in every moment the players shine on the field.
[New Graduate Recruitment Support for Female Athletes (Planned)] The company plans to start recruitment support targeting students graduating in 2027. The employment type will be full-time. Athletes will work as sales or field staff in the fashion and sports industries while participating in practices and games on matching days off. In addition, the company will prepare an environment where work and sports can be balanced, including improving practice facilities. Inter Bell will also provide the costs for uniforms and activity locations. The company aims to reach a scale where Inter Bell can form an independent team, anticipating hiring about 10 people every year once the system is established. In the future, the plan is to expand the target not only to women's hardball baseball but also to universities nationwide that have women's softball teams.
■ Interview: Akiho Chonan, Recruitment, Inter Bell Co., Ltd.
Q. How did you feel when you first heard about the plan?
Since very few companies host women's baseball teams, I took it very positively, thinking it sounded like a lot of fun. I hope these kinds of initiatives spread further.
Q. What aspects of an athlete do you think will be useful at Inter Bell?
When I actually met the players, what struck me was their high communication skills and perseverance. The fact that they have a solid understanding of hierarchy and are genuine will also be a major strength in their work.
Q. Could you tell us your impression of actually interacting with the players?
It was impressive to see them enjoying fashion, like hair colors and nails, while dedicating themselves to the sport in their own unique way. I also felt a strong affinity with the apparel industry.
Q. Do you have a message for female athletes struggling to balance job hunting and baseball?
Some of you might think you have to quit the baseball you love in order to get a job. But there is a place where you can make your dreams come true while working. We are certainly waiting for you.
■ Interview: Katsunori Tanaka, President, Inter Bell Co., Ltd.
Q. What prompted you to become a sponsor?
About a year and a half ago, I received a sales email asking, "Why don't you create a baseball team to strengthen recruitment?" At first, it didn't click with me, as I had an image of a men's baseball team. But when I asked, "What about women?", the reaction was, "Nobody is doing that, it's interesting." I thought a women's baseball team could help attract both new graduates and mid-career hires. Later, I connected with Manager Ono of Tokai Gakuin University, and we built a relationship where, in exchange for supporting uniforms and travel expenses, players would choose Inter Bell as their place of employment. I was strongly encouraged by the players' passion to "continue playing baseball even as working adults."
Q. How did you feel when you learned about the challenge that "balancing baseball and job hunting is impossible"?
While I thought there were unavoidable aspects, I felt that job hunting is something that can be resolved if companies simply go out and hold information sessions or joint interviews. What is even more serious is the problem of being unable to "balance work and baseball" rather than just job hunting. I believe it is truly important to change the situation where there are no corporate teams and athletes can only play recreational baseball.

Q. Please tell us how the sponsorship agreement with Inter Bell came about and your frank thoughts.
We were connected with Inter Bell through an acquaintance, and I was deeply impressed by President Tanaka's passion for baseball and his vision for the development of women's baseball. In an era where we feel society cannot function without the active participation of women, I am very pleased that they focused on "female athletes" and, furthermore, "female baseball players." We sincerely appreciate their support for our university's women's hardball baseball team.
