Viro (Vairo), a decorative material exclusively handled by Amrex Corporation for domestic sales, has been adopted for the exterior of Casa CABaN HAYAMA (opening on March 26, 2026), the first hotel by the fashion brand TOMORROWLAND (Tomorrowland).

All 14 guest rooms of the hotel, which opened in Hayama-cho, Kanagawa Prefecture, on the Morito Coast, have terraces overlooking Sagami Bay and Mount Fuji. This hotel, for which Patricia Urquiola, a world-renowned architect and designer, and her STUDIO URQUIOLA are in charge of total direction from architectural and interior design to exterior, is designed with a consistent commitment from the architectural concept to each and every material of the exterior wall.

The hand-woven technique of craftsmen - Viro (Vairo)

The architectural concept of Casa CABaN HAYAMA is 'Weaving (weaving together)'. Patricia Urquiola, who was deeply fascinated by the majestic scenery of Mount Fuji towering across Sagami Bay when she first visited the Morito Coast, is said to have conceived a spatial composition centered on this scenery.

To express this worldview, 'Viro (Vairo)' was adopted for wall decoration.

Viro is an artificial material developed based on high-density polyethylene (HDPE), which is carefully hand-woven by craftsmen one by one. While inheriting the traditional rattan weaving technology of Indonesia, it has been adopted by first-class hotels and resort facilities around the world as a next-generation material with excellent water resistance, durability, and weather resistance.

For this adoption, a special specification using 100% recycled materials was manufactured at the strong request of Patricia Urquiola. This specification, which was realized by clearing stringent inspections based on international quality and safety standards through consultation with the manufacturer, Polymind, is also an advanced initiative as a facade using recycled resin as the main material, which is still rare both domestically and internationally.

The exterior wall, which has a unique expression like hand-woven fabric, brings depth and warmth to the appearance of the building standing in the sea breeze. This material, which is 100% recyclable, is also a sustainable choice that harmonizes with the coastal environment.

Weaving the building like weaving fabric - the philosophy of 'Weaving'

The building is structured with several units connected by open corridors, and no matter where you are, in the guest rooms, walking along the corridors, or relaxing in the lounge, your line of sight is always on Mount Fuji. The architecture quietly weaves together nature and human activities like carefully weaving a single piece of fabric.

From the conceptual planning stage to the total direction of design, construction, and interior, it is the first challenge for Urquiola herself to have one designer in charge of everything. A rare project unparalleled in the world has been realized on the seaside of Hayama.
