Regional Revitalization Project "8x8 MUSIC FESTIVAL 2027" to Connect the Future of the Chikugo Region Through Music and Culture to Be Held

The 8x8 MUSIC FESTIVAL Executive Committee (Executive Committee Chair: Makoto Ozeki) has decided to hold the "8x8 MUSIC FESTIVAL 2027," a music festival set in the southern area of Fukuoka Prefecture.

Following the first and second editions, the festival will feature live performances by a star-studded lineup of artists, as well as an area where visitors can fully experience the region's charm.

Collaboration with Regional Culture Media "edition" to Launch an All-Year-Round Regional Information Dissemination Project

This initiative aims to continuously deliver the region's attractions and challenges throughout the year.

"edition" is a culture media outlet that covers and edits the stories of people, culture, food, craftsmanship, and art challenging themselves in the region, and disseminates their value. The 8x8 MUSIC FESTIVAL is the culmination of this effort, an event that connects the region through music.

We will disseminate new charms of southern Fukuoka Prefecture while leveraging our respective roles.

Main Collaboration Details (Planned)

- Production of feature and interview articles related to the 8x8 MUSIC FESTIVAL

- Interviews with regional businesses and creators supporting the festival

- Feature planning on culture, food culture, tourism, and craftsmanship in the Fukuoka Chikugo surrounding areas

- Dissemination of regional touring content for festival attendees

- Production of video and article content introducing people challenging themselves in the region

The 8x8 MUSIC FESTIVAL is a "place for real experiences," and edition is a "media that delivers regional stories." While both projects are independent initiatives, they will disseminate information throughout the year, including before and after the festival, based on the common philosophy of "re-recognizing the region's charm and delivering it to more people."

We will deepen our collaboration while respecting each other's uniqueness, and work to create opportunities for new exchanges and challenges to emerge in the region.

The southern Fukuoka Prefecture region is facing various challenges, including population decline and the outflow of young people.

However, on the other hand, this region possesses cultural, culinary, technological, and human charms that can be proudly presented nationwide.

The 8x8 MUSIC FESTIVAL aims to be an entry point for disseminating these charms both within and outside the region, connecting people and the region.

And edition will play the role of recording, editing, and delivering these aspirations and challenges to the next generation.

Our goal is not simply to hold a music festival.

As a "cultural project to create the future of the southern Fukuoka Prefecture Chikugo region," we will create new inbound populations and opportunities for challenges in the region.

Music has a great power to bring people together. However, our goal is not a conventional music event, but to create a system that generates and circulates exchanges between visitors, local residents, and the population of the southern Fukuoka Prefecture region.

Through the 8x8 MUSIC FESTIVAL and edition, we want to disseminate information about the many charms and new challenges of southern Fukuoka Prefecture and nurture new culture that will lead to the future of this region.
