"Yuki Ota Fencing Visualized Project," which updates sports spectating through the power of technology by detecting the tip of the sword—which human vision cannot follow—using deep learning technology and synthesizing it with AR in real time.

The joint project "Yuki Ota Fencing Visualized Project" (hereafter "Fencing Visualized") by Rhizomatiks and Dentsu Lab Tokyo will be introduced in actual matches for the first time in the United States at the international fencing tournament "World Fencing League," held at The Shrine in Los Angeles on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

"Fencing Visualized" detects the tip of the sword, which cannot be tracked by human vision, synthesizes it with AR in real time, and instantly visualizes its trajectory.* After various development processes since 2012, it has now been updated to a new system that can visualize the sword tip marker-less by using deep learning.

Left: For the introduction to actual matches and high accuracy, a large-scale new machine learning dataset was filmed. Filmed with 8 cameras, 12 athletes, and multiple background lighting conditions. Annotated over 200,000 images.

Since this system was first introduced in an actual match at the "Able Presents 72nd All Japan Fencing Championships" in 2019, it has attracted significant attention both domestically and internationally.

This technology, which was also utilized at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics venues, will make its US debut at the "World Fencing League," the world's first professional fencing league broadcast in over 200 countries and regions. It is truly a fitting stage for the next development of this project.

This opportunity will expand on a global scale the enjoyment of sports spectating, allowing audiences to experience the advanced techniques of athletes challenging international tournaments from a new perspective.
