Yasashii Business Lab Partners with Career Break Institute (Mushoku University) to Support Reskilling During Career Breaks

Yasashii Business School (Yasabi), an online business school operating under the vision "Bringing the Power of Academia to Society," has initiated a business partnership with Mushoku University, a career break community with over 2,500 registered members, operated by the General Incorporated Association Career Break Institute (Representative Director: Takahiro Kitano, hereinafter referred to as "Career Break Institute").

Through this partnership, Mushoku University community members will be able to take over 1,000 various lectures, including business administration lectures by university faculty, free of charge.

Our aim is to provide high-quality learning opportunities (reskilling and unlearning) and a supportive environment for individuals during their career breaks, helping them find new meaning in this period, especially when they may be experiencing financial anxiety.

Career break is defined as "a period of re-evaluating oneself and society towards a new career role by letting go of the central career role previously engaged in" (Ishiyama, Kataoka, Kitano 2024 Career Break: Letting Go is Not Emptiness (Chikura Publishing)).

For example, the term and concept of career break have gradually spread, referring to periods of job separation, leave of absence, or even intentionally not holding a profession.

However, career breaks can often last from six months to two years (according to the Career Break Institute), and in many cases, issues arise such as reduced social contact, anxiety about the future, and, most significantly, the economic cost of investing in learning.

To address these challenges, Yasabi, which strives to deliver business administration education to everyone, and the Career Break Institute, which aims to promote career breaks as a culture, have joined hands.

2. Launch of a New Lecture: "Career Break (Tentative Title)"

A special lecture by Takahiro Kitano, Representative Director of the Career Break Institute, will be launched on the Yasabi platform.

This lecture aims to provide an opportunity to contemplate the meaning of career breaks by examining them from various perspectives: societal, organizational, and individual.
