Mecha Comic (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Takashi Kodama) has announced the winners of its manga contest, 'Mecha Con,' hosted on its digital comic service. The contest was organized to discover the next generation of hit authors and manga works. With a panel of judges including Kazuhiko Torishima, former editor-in-chief of Weekly Shonen Jump; Kazuaki Ishibashi, CEO of Comic Room; and Yohei Sadojima, CEO of Cork, 10 outstanding works were selected from 498 submissions. The awards consist of one Grand Prize, three special judge prizes (Torishima Prize, Ishibashi Prize, Sadojima Prize), three selections, and three Mecha Comic Prizes. Each winner receives a cash prize and will be paired with an editor to work towards serialization or a debut. The Grand Prize winner, 'Gusha no Mi' by Fukuto Kashii, was highly acclaimed for its world-building and character design. The judges praised the winners' raw talent, including storytelling ability and technical proficiency in character expressions, noting their professional-level potential. The authors will now begin the process of preparing for serialization, supported by Mecha Comic’s editorial team. Through 'Mecha Comic Creators,' the company continues its commitment to supporting emerging creators and producing high-quality manga content for the market.
