New Color "Burgundy" & New "Purple" for the Thong
Machipro Co., Ltd. (Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture: CEO Hiroshi Otsuki) has been creating Japanese-made beach sandals that are environmentally conscious, using 100% organic biodegradable accelerators, with the concept of "everything returns to the sea." Now, we have succeeded in further contributing to the reduction of environmental impact by effectively utilizing the shells of "oysters" and "scallops," which are attracting attention as a nationwide environmental issue.
Piles of shells left in various places
Cannot overlook the environmental problems of the ocean
We have completed beach sandals that are extremely environmentally friendly, by further processing oyster and scallop shells and kneading them into the raw materials of our existing biodegradable beach sandals that do not pollute the sea. This is a product that allows you to easily engage in ECO activities while enjoying fashion!
"Shonan Be-San SIX LINE®" was born from the concern that beach sandals could cause marine pollution, and is made entirely of biodegradable materials.
Furthermore, it is a rare, high-quality, Japanese-made beach sandal, completed with a commitment to Japanese manufacturing through repeated heat resistance tests and tensile strength tests in the desert.
Production Area: Japan
Ingredients: Natural rubber, biodegradable accelerator, etc.
Product testing in the Wahiba Desert, Oman
◆ "SIX LINE" Explained
"Waraji," traditional Japanese footwear woven from straw. Although times have changed, the design has been passed down in a modified form, evolving into the six-line pattern on the thong of current domestic beach sandals. The "JAPAN" stamp on the thong and the sole is proof of authenticity. We want to protect tradition and the environment even while changing materials and appearance. We value this spirit of "learning from the past to understand the future."
Please be aware of imitations without the "JAPAN" stamp.
The "JAPAN" stamp on the thong is proof of authenticity. The sole also has an "IN JAPAN" stamp.
◆ History of Japanese Beach Sandals and Biodegradation
<Beach sandals originated in Japan!>
Available in earth colors that are environmentally friendly
Beach sandals were first made in Japan in the 1950s. In the 1960s, exports from Japan to overseas peaked, with approximately 100 million pairs exported annually, gaining popularity as "Japanese Zori." Sales as "beach sandals" also began in Japan, but they were pushed out by the wave of inexpensive overseas products, and eventually, the beach sandal industry, concentrated in Hyogo Prefecture, disappeared from Japan due to the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake.
After that, only a few companies now handle these rare items, with the belief that the flame of Japanese manufacturing must not be extinguished.
Cutting the thong is a one-shot deal where mistakes are not allowed. Punching holes where craftsmanship shines, depending on thickness, size, and temperature.
<Biodegradable Accelerator>
・100% Organic
・Certified by the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration)
・Biodegradability proven by ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) tests
・Complies with the positive list established by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare
Analysis data from our registered trademark "SEA Bio-Foam®" testing institution. Decomposition is expected in approximately 5 years.
By mixing this biodegradable accelerator into the raw materials of beach sandals, decomposition begins by the action of microorganisms when they are left in the ocean or buried in soil. Decomposition does not start simply by wearing the beach sandals, so it does not affect the product's lifespan. Decomposition varies depending on the environment, so we do not guarantee it.
We plan to gradually increase the variations.
Sales also start at the official store.
In addition to sales to corporations and through department stores, we have also started selling at our official store. We plan to gradually introduce products that cannot be obtained elsewhere. We also plan to add this new product as a Furusato Nozei (hometown tax donation) return gift in Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
◆ Other
We accept orders from companies and stores that wish to use our products for sales, collaborations, or as gifts, starting from just a few pairs. Our company does not use paints that are considered environmentally unfriendly for printing; we perform laser engraving in-house. Please feel free to contact us.
Numerous orders from major companies for JAPAN quality. New products to be released in the future are also worth watching!

Thorough Pursuit of ECO and Domestic Manufacturing
Beach sandals are footwear with only two parts: the sole and the thong. If that's the case, shouldn't we be able to be particular about them? Currently, 99.9% of beach sandals on the domestic market are imported. We are committed to creating the most ECO-friendly beach sandals ever, made with the meticulous craftsmanship of skilled artisans, and to producing products that "do not extinguish the flame of Japanese manufacturing." This is our sole belief and guiding principle. Furthermore, worn-out rubber from walking, or if lost in the sea or rivers, also poses a significant environmental burden. We will continue to challenge ourselves to leave a slightly cleaner ocean for future generations.
