Simply by touching the teeth, it gets into the "gaps" and removes dirt with the "Miracle Toothbrush for Dogs."

"They run away when I try to brush their teeth." "They hate it just being touched around their mouth."

Many dog owners struggle with brushing their dog's teeth.

The total pet care brand "A.P.D.C." (Takakura & Co., Inc.: Minato-ku, Tokyo, CEO Ken Takakura) faced the very reason "why dogs dislike brushing" and jointly developed the product with Nishio Co., Ltd., the developer of the "Miracle Toothbrush."

We developed the "Miracle Toothbrush for Dogs" by repeatedly prototyping in mil units, tailored to the unique oral structure of dogs.

Following its launch on April 1, 2026, we received an overwhelming response, with the initial production run of 10,000 units for small dogs selling out in about a month. The units for medium and large dogs also sold out subsequently. We have now completed re-production and will be re-releasing them starting today, July 1st (Wed).

About the Miracle Toothbrush for Dogs

The "Miracle Toothbrush for Dogs" is a dog toothbrush jointly developed by toothbrush specialists and pet specialists, based on the technology of the "Miracle Toothbrush."

Miracle Toothbrush for Dogs (Small Dog Size)

We pursued a toothbrush that even dogs who dislike brushing can continue to use, adopting a patented pyramid shape.

Simply by touching the teeth, it gets into the "gaps" and removes dirt.

Furthermore, the double-bristle and double-cut structure fits both the tooth surface and the deep grooves unique to dog teeth.

We used soft nylon bristles, with tapered tips that gently act on the gums.

The unique triangular handle fixes the correct angle and also considers ease of grip for the owner.

Our Motivation for Development

There's a reason why "they dislike brushing." That's why the "Miracle Toothbrush for Dogs" was designed down to the finest detail from a dog's perspective.

Kayoko Takasugi, A.P.D.C. Product Development Manager, commented on this development:

"My dog just won't let me brush his teeth."

We've heard this complaint from countless owners.

We can say with certainty that "if the toothbrush hurts, dogs will absolutely dislike it."

Gums are delicate areas that easily feel pain when swollen. Brushing vigorously with a hard-bristled toothbrush while the owner applies force is a "terror" for the dog. It can never be called "good communication."

On the other hand, dog teeth have more complex curves and are sharper than human teeth.

If the bristles are soft, they won't remove dirt, and if the head is too large, it won't reach the dirt in the complex gaps of a dog's teeth. Due to the shape of dog teeth, we felt limitations with existing tools.

That's why it was necessary to redesign it from scratch as "dog-exclusive."

Adjusted in Mil Units. Redesigned from Scratch as "For Dogs"

When we tried the commercially available "Miracle Toothbrush for Humans" on our dog (an Airedale Terrier), he showed signs of slight discomfort, indicating that the bristle quality for humans is "too hard" for dogs.

We thoroughly adjusted the "softness of the bristles" and "size" so that dogs wouldn't feel pain.

Furthermore, by designing the handle in a triangular shape, we made it easier to naturally maintain the ideal brushing angle of "45 degrees." This allows us to gently remove dirt from the gaps between teeth and gums (periodontal pockets) with maximum effectiveness.

We pursued a "delicate softness" that dogs wouldn't feel pain, adjusting bristle hardness in mil units based on the human standard of 6 mil (1 mil = 0.0254 mm). We repeated prototyping and verification for over half a year to find a balance that was neither too hard nor too soft.

Additionally, we redesigned the bristle length, step, and head size from scratch to match the complex dentition unique to dogs. It took about a year to develop the large dog version and about a year to optimize it for small dogs.

After the prototypes were completed, we designed new molds specifically for dogs. We sourced materials not handled in regular factories and established a manufacturing system.

Since dogs cannot adjust their own force or angle, we thoroughly adjusted the toothbrush itself.

The "Miracle Toothbrush for Dogs" was born from this philosophy.

Hidetoshi Nishio, Representative Director of Nishio Co., Ltd., commented on this joint development:

"98% of Japanese people regret it after losing their teeth."

Facing this harsh reality in dental practice,

I became convinced that "preventive dentistry is the best medicine." From that belief, the "Miracle Toothbrush," with its structure that "reaches into gaps just by touching," was born.

Oral care is not just a habit; it is an important pillar that affects one's healthy lifespan.

Through our conversations with everyone at A.P.D.C.,

I became convinced that this sentiment applies not only to humans but also to the health of "beloved dogs" who are difficult to care for. To protect the healthy future of our precious family members, we poured our technology into this joint development.
