This year's Sakura Matsuri was held under the concept of 'Happy Community.' The goal was to create a space where local individuals, groups, and shops—all passionate about the community—could gather to foster intergenerational connection and bring smiles to the entire region.
At Sakura, we hold 'Like Family' as an essential value. This festival was planned as an initiative to spread this philosophy throughout the community. Held at the Hoshi no Sato Iwafune sports and culture center in Katano, the event shifted from a traditional 'appreciation festival' to a new focus on co-creating regional revitalization with the residents and building connections with the next generation.
Through the event, we aimed to further energize Katano City and contribute to sustainable regional development by connecting residents, organizations, and companies across generations.
Stage performances provided a platform for dance teams, choirs, and cheerleading groups active in and around Katano to showcase local talent. We also focused on creating an environment where families could share memories together, with activities for all ages.
Furthermore, participants—including local organizations, restaurants, and handmade artists—created a space where visitors could feel the charm of the region and the strength of human connections. We aimed to make this event a step toward realizing true 'Regional Co-creation.'
Key Feature: The Massive Cardboard Maze A highlight of this festival was the massive cardboard maze set up inside the facility. It was assembled on the day before the festival by children working together with the craftsmen who collaborate on Sakura’s construction projects. We also held a surprise activity where children drew their favorite pictures and decorated the maze. Long lines formed, and both adults and children enjoyed the maze with smiles.
Event Overview: A Day Blessed with Clear Weather The day was blessed with clear weather, and many visitors arrived as soon as the doors opened—1,200 people in total! It became a festival enjoyed by families across generations.
Future Prospects Following the success of this festival, we remain committed to our motto of 'Like Family' and strive to deepen our connection with the next generation while working with the community to further invigorate Katano City.
