Unagino Nedoko, a regional culture trading company (Head office: Yame City, Fukuoka Prefecture), will hold the "13th Monpe Exposition" starting Friday, May 22, 2026. This year, it will kick off at Unagino Nedoko Ehime Ozu Store (Ozu City, Ehime Prefecture).

Continuing since 2011, this marks the 13th installment of the "Monpe Exposition." In addition to events in Fukuoka (Yame/Fukuoka), Ehime Ozu, and Tokyo, we will further expand opportunities to convey the charm of Kurume-kasuri in our own words by traveling to various locations nationwide for "Monpe Tours" and "Monpe Pop-ups," delivering products directly to customers.

Different materials, different weaves.
Different processing, different techniques.
Introducing Monpe made by fabric producers from all over Japan!

At this year's Monpe Exposition, we will introduce not only Kurume-kasuri but also Monpe made by fabric producers from various regions across Japan with whom we have connected. Starting with Kurume-kasuri, we have encountered various production areas and fabrics. The more we learn, the more we experience the profound depth of textiles, and through this accumulation, "what Kurume-kasuri is" and "what its characteristics are" become clearer.

We believe that introducing production areas and fabrics that are not Kurume-kasuri also leads to a deeper understanding of Kurume-kasuri itself.

Different materials, different weaves.
Different processing, different techniques.

Even with just a single word "fabric," a diverse range of differences extends behind it. We will convey the charm of Kurume-kasuri from a slightly different perspective than before.

What Unagino Nedoko will continue to do, as always, is:
To make people aware of "the goodness of Kurume-kasuri" and "the scenery where Kurume-kasuri exists."

While we feel the expansion with each Monpe Exposition, it is also a reality that the number of weaving workshops has decreased over the past 15 years, and the overall production volume of the region has also declined. It is becoming difficult to continue what was once taken for granted.

First and foremost, to make people aware of Kurume-kasuri.

To deliver it to those who do not yet know it.
We will continue this, as always.

We believe that the best way to experience the charm of Kurume-kasuri is to actually wear it and feel its comfort. To that end, we will gradually increase opportunities in various locations for people to pick up and try on the products. However, Kurume-kasuri and its production area cannot continue with just that. For Kurume-kasuri to continue, it is necessary for people to pick up and continue to use Monpe and other products.

Manufacturing does not continue by merely producing.

It is only when there are people who acquire and continue to use the products that it leads to the next step. We believe that Kurume-kasuri and its production area are not sustained by one person alone, but are passed down through the thoughts and actions of each individual involved. The Monpe Exposition aims to become a place where various people involved with Kurume-kasuri can interact, and where the sight of Kurume-kasuri gradually increases in Fukuoka and other regions.
