'Shiratori Odori,' loved for over 300 years in the Shiratori district of Gujo City, Gifu Prefecture, lands in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, again this year. The fervor that continued dancing even in the rain last year is powered up this year with the spring breeze. We deliver a day to enjoy with all five senses, including Gujo culture experiences and original odori-geta workshops.

1. 【Excitement】The groove of 'geta sounds' and 'live singing' echoing among the skyscrapers

A breathtaking performance of live singing and live music by members of the preservation society. The session of hayashi (festival music) and geta sounds, making you forget the hustle and bustle of the city, is a must-see. This year, in response to the calls of 'I want to dance more and more,' the dancing time has been extended to three hours.

2. 【Experience】Join the circle even if it's your first time! 'Odori Class' and Workshops

Don't worry if it's your first time experiencing Shiratori Odori. In the 'Odori Class' taught directly by the authentic preservation society, you can learn the choreography on the spot and join the circle. Furthermore, we will also hold workshops for 'making original odori-geta' and 'silk screening,' taught by masters of the authentic Gujo Mokuri. The experience of dancing with your own handmade goods will be a lifelong memory.

3. 【Gourmet】Directly delivered 'seasonal' flavors of Gifu and Gujo. Exquisite gourmet food & craft sake

We have carefully selected and prepared 'authentic Gifu' tastes that can only be savored locally, including Gifu's famous frankfurters, craft gin from the SNS-famous 'Tatsumi Distillery,' and craft beer from Gujo Hachiman.

The reason we continue this project is not simply to recreate past culture. 'Shiratori Odori,' which has been carefully preserved for over 300 years in the Shiratori region of Gujo City, Gifu Prefecture, with roots in 'Miya Odori' and 'Haiden Odori.' We want to connect this traditional culture, imbued with an indomitable spirit, with Ikebukuro, a city of diversity, through new 'bonds.'

Last year, despite the unfortunate rainy weather, the venue was filled with an enthusiasm that blew it away. The sight of Ikebukuro becoming one with the power of those who are self-proclaimed dance lovers (odori-zuke). 'If it was that amazing in the rain, it will be even more amazing this year.' To meet that expectation, we will expand the circle of dance even further this year.

This event is a project created together with all of you. We are currently conducting crowdfunding, offering lantern sponsorships to decorate the event and returns of limited edition goods.
