The concept of this exhibition is different from a haunted house; it allows visitors to actually 'see,' 'shoot,' and 'touch' the world of film art themed around horror.
In the summer of 2024, it was held for 49 days at the Niigata Prefectural Museum of Natural History, attracting 32,000 visitors.
In the fall of 2025, it was held for 30 days at Tokyo Solamachi Space 634, attracting 27,000 visitors.
Surveys conducted with visitors at that time received numerous rave reviews, achieving a satisfaction rate of over 90%. In response to many requests, it will now be held at the 'Namba Skyo 7th Floor Convention Hall.'
We are preparing a new kind of horror experiential exhibition, different from traditional haunted houses with startling elements.
This exhibition focuses on the art of Japanese horror movies, which are popular worldwide as J-Horror.
It is an experiential exhibition where visitors can not only 'see' the works but also 'shoot' and 'touch' them as they like.
All the art pieces in the venue are directed by art directors who have been active in the Japanese film industry for many years. Film art incorporates various mechanisms and ingenuity that are not apparent from the other side of the screen. Film art is usually destroyed after filming, but this exhibition displays such art pieces that are normally not visible.
Enjoy the film sets and their behind-the-scenes. The art sets that are dismantled after filming. This forbidden space, which ordinary people can never normally enter, has been specially designed and recreated for this event. The spaces, meticulously crafted down to the smallest detail for various situations, exude an overwhelming sense of realism and sophistication, as if the real thing has appeared before your eyes.
Furthermore, an 'Art Notes' corner will be set up in the venue, introducing the behind-the-scenes of horror movies and the professional work of film art that is not widely known.
You can walk around the works in the venue in any order and as many times as you like.
All exhibits in the venue are OK to photograph and video. Special photo spots with art pieces for commemorative photos are on display. The sets for this event, meticulously crafted with a setting from the 'Showa 50s to 60s' (1975-1985), allow you to enjoy shooting in a nostalgic yet unsettling world. Other features, such as capturing your own shadow or hand, allow you to take unique photos depending on your creativity.
You can directly touch and lift the models, an experience not usually possible. Even things that look like asphalt, iron, concrete, or stone are not made of real materials. They are crafted with wisdom and ingenuity, considering budget constraints, ease of processing, and manageable weight. Please touch them to see what materials they are made of. Experience the ingenuity of film art that you cannot understand from the other side of the screen.

Visitor Comments:
'I like horror, but I don't like being startled like in a haunted house, so I was very happy to be able to look at the decorations carefully!'
'I liked that I could see the experience from the exhibitor's side, like the shadows on the shoji screens and the hands on the doors, on a monitor. I also enjoyed how the exhibits were connected to each other and the puzzle-solving elements.'
'I enjoyed the sets as stage art. I like horror elements, but I'm not the type to go to haunted houses, so this kind of horror exhibition without scares was great! Reading the commentary helped me understand the setting and immerse myself in the world. I would be grateful if you could hold more exhibitions like this in the future!'
