Tobu Railway (Headquarters: Sumida City, Tokyo) will host the 'Tobu Kids Exclusive 90000 Series Pre-Ride & Discover 9 Secrets!' event on August 11 (Tuesday, national holiday), inviting elementary school children and their guardians to experience the new 90000 series train on the Tōjō Line before it enters regular service.
This special experiential event will invite 40 parent-child pairs to ride the new 90000 series train before its commercial operation. Children will explore the train and record their favorite features on a worksheet, then act as 'Kids Ambassadors' to share the train’s appeal with future passengers.
By encouraging children to discover the train’s thoughtful design and highlights from their unique perspective, the event aims to make the 90000 series—and the Tōjō Line in general—feel more familiar and accessible. As a family-friendly program that fosters interest in railways, it also serves as a memorable summer activity and a potential project for school free research assignments.
Footage from the event will be used to create PR videos, which will be published on the 'Tobu Kids' website and shared on Tobu Railway’s official YouTube channel and at stations. Through children’s authentic impressions and discoveries, the charm of the 90000 series will be communicated in an engaging and relatable way.
Moving forward, 'Tobu Kids' will continue to create learning and experiential opportunities for children, offering enjoyable content for families.

Overview of the New 90000 Series Train on the Tōjō Line
1. Train Model: 90000 series
2. Service Start Date: September 26, 2026 (Saturday)
3. Train Overview
(1) Train Concept
To contribute to the realization of our corporate vision—'a society where people are kind, and people and communities continue to shine together'—the 90000 series is designed not only to be safe and comfortable but also to reflect the historical roots of the Tōjō Line area. Inspired by the 'boat transport' on the Arakawa and Shin-Karaku Rivers, the train’s concept is 'Watashifune (Our Boat) Connecting Community, People, and the Future.'
(2) Design
The exterior features a bold, reverse-slant front with a rounded lower section inspired by the hull of a Takase boat, creating a distinctive and memorable silhouette. The interior design also draws from 'boat transport,' incorporating traditional 'Tate-nuiguri' patterns on partition panels and Zen garden-inspired textures on the flooring. The overall color scheme emphasizes simplicity and timelessness, using high-quality materials to create a calm and relaxing cabin atmosphere. Additionally, increased glass areas on the side doors and partitions, along with enlarged side windows extending downward compared to previous models, create a more open and spacious interior.
(3) Environmental Impact Reduction
Environmentally, the train is equipped with the latest energy-saving technologies—including full SiC VVVF control systems, high-efficiency IM motors, and LED lighting—reducing power consumption by over 40% compared to the 9000 series, significantly lowering environmental impact through superior energy efficiency.
