Yokohama Arena Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture; President: Hiromichi Murai; hereinafter 'Yokohama Arena Co.') announces that it has commenced an initiative (hereinafter 'this initiative') from April 2026 to utilize a portion of the electricity consumed by its multi-purpose facility 'Yokohama Arena' (Location: Kohoku-ku, Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture; hereinafter 'Yokohama Arena'). This involves receiving renewable energy electricity derived from solar power generation facilities installed by Tokyu Fudosan Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Tatsuaki Tanaka; hereinafter 'Tokyu Fudosan') on the rooftops of Yokohama municipal schools, supplied via ReENE Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Keisuke Nishida; hereinafter 'ReENE Co.'), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tokyu Fudosan, through an off-site corporate PPA (hereinafter 'off-site PPA')*1 scheme. Through this initiative, we will establish 'local production for local consumption,' effectively utilizing renewable energy (hereinafter 'renewable electricity') generated within Yokohama City, and contribute to the realization of Yokohama City's decarbonized society. Furthermore, Tokyu Community Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; President: Tomoyuki Hayakawa; hereinafter 'Tokyu Community'), which undertakes the building management of Yokohama Arena, will strive to further enhance building value by performing appropriate energy management for the electricity supply from ReENE Co., in addition to the newly introduced off-site PPA, in the maintenance and management of the building.

*1 PPA stands for 'Power Purchase Agreement.' Off-site corporate PPA refers to a mechanism where renewable electricity is transported outside the premises of the renewable energy power plant and used.

■Background

In its 'Yokohama City Global Warming Countermeasure Action Plan (City Hall Edition),' Yokohama City is promoting the introduction of solar power generation facilities as one of the city hall's proactive initiatives, aiming to achieve 100% introduction by FY2035 by utilizing PPA projects for 814 eligible public facilities.

As part of this, the city has been promoting the introduction of solar power generation facilities through PPA for municipal schools since FY2021, and in January 2023, Tokyu Fudosan was selected as the implementing company for the second phase of the school PPA project.

Tokyu Fudosan will sequentially install solar power generation facilities at a total of 43 municipal elementary, junior high, high, and special needs schools from FY2023 to FY2025, supplying renewable electricity generated from these facilities for self-consumption at the schools.

■Details of the Current Initiative

This initiative involves supplying and utilizing surplus renewable electricity generated at multiple schools within Yokohama City on holidays, when schools are closed, to 'Yokohama Arena' via off-site PPA through ReENE Co., Ltd., a retail electricity provider.

This realizes 'local production for local consumption,' effectively utilizing renewable electricity generated within Yokohama City, and makes approximately 8% of the facility's annual electricity consumption 'raw green power.'

Furthermore, for electricity that cannot be covered by off-site PPA alone, it will be supplied with FIT non-fossil certificates*2, thereby making 100% of the facility's annual electricity consumption renewable and contributing to the realization of a decarbonized society by 2050.

*2 'ReENE Denki's 'Substantially Renewable Plan' (electricity menu) with FIT non-fossil certificates, which are environmental values derived from renewable energy power plants developed using the FIT scheme. By utilizing FIT non-fossil certificates for electricity sold by retail electricity providers to consumers, CO2 emission reductions are recognized.
