Tokyu Land Corporation (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Hiroaki Hoshino; hereinafter "Tokyu Land") and DIGGLE Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Kiyotaka Yamamoto; hereinafter "DIGGLE") have co-created a "horizontal recycling" model during DIGGLE's office fit-out at Ebisu Business Tower (Location: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo). This model involves material recycling of interior building waste from previous office constructions, turning them into eco-friendly recycled interior building materials to be used in another office.
This initiative is one of the environmental measures under Tokyu Land's advanced environmental partnership "team green" *1 launched in March 2026, contributing to the sustainability activities of their partner company, DIGGLE. Furthermore, as part of Tokyu Land's environmental efforts, forest conservation was carried out across an area 10 times the size of DIGGLE's office fit-out space.
*1 The environmental advanced partnership "team green" is a co-creation partnership where Tokyu Land and tenant companies endorsing environmental conservation activities unite to solve environmental issues and create value. Please refer to the news release dated March 24, 2026 (https://www.tokyu-land.co.jp/news/2026/001682.html).
Reducing CO2 Emissions by 4.7 Tons Through Horizontal Recycling of Interior Materials via Co-creation In DIGGLE's office fit-out conducted from October 2025 to February 2026, they pioneered the industry's "horizontal recycling" by adopting recycled interior materials (recycled gypsum board, recycled tile carpet) manufactured from recycled content. Since recycled interior materials are produced by material recycling of discarded interior materials, it reduces the processes of mining, processing, transporting, and manufacturing new raw materials. This suppresses the CO2 emissions generated during the manufacturing process, and this construction project successfully reduced CO2 emissions by approximately 4,697 kg *2.
Additionally, Tokyu Land undertakes initiatives to conserve forests with areas corresponding to stakeholders' actions. In this project as well, by adopting recycled interior materials as one of the "team green" environmental measures, they implemented forest conservation of 4,633 sqm in Nishiawakura Village, Okayama Prefecture, which is equivalent to 10 times DIGGLE's fit-out area. This also contributes to the protection of biodiversity and the sustainable maintenance of the local natural environment.
*2 The "CO2 emission reduction amount" is calculated based on comparative estimated values against conventional products provided by the manufacturers.
