Toshima Ward has many faces, including Komagome, the birthplace of the Somei-yoshino cherry blossom; Sugamo, the 'Harajuku for grandmothers'; Otsuka, where the only remaining tram in Tokyo runs through the city; Ikebukuro with its giant terminal; Zoshigaya, rich in history and culture; the lush and prestigious Mejiro; Minami-Nagasaki, 'the town where Tokiwa-so once stood'; and the areas of Nagasaki, Kanamecho, and Chihaya, which retain the flavor of Ikebukuro Montparnasse.
