Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Taito-ku, Tokyo; President: Akiyoshi Kosaka; hereinafter "Tokyo Metro") has introduced its railway electrical facility maintenance management system, "REFMa (Railway Electrical Facilities Maintenance Management System)," to Metropolitan Intercity Railway Company and Toyo Rapid Railway Co., Ltd. Operations commenced in April 2026, following high evaluations of the system's effectiveness and operational track record within Tokyo Metro.

Tokyo Metro is promoting "business support through DX" as part of its "expansion of business areas utilizing railway operation know-how" strategy under its medium-term management plan, "Run! – Soar into the Next Era." REFMa serves as a platform to support railway electrical facility maintenance management.

This project marks the first instance of Tokyo Metro expanding the results of its internal DX efforts in railway electrical facility maintenance to external organizations.

Previously, inspection management was paper-based. The introduction of REFMa has enabled the digitalization and centralized management of planning, inspections, and results, leading to standardized and efficient operations. It contributes to preventing omissions due to human error and promotes paperless workflows.

Tokyo Metro began implementing REFMa in stages from April 2023 and now uses it across all workplaces responsible for electrical facility maintenance. Since its introduction, the company has continuously incorporated feedback from employees in the Electrical Department to improve system functionality based on actual needs and has reviewed operational methods. Additionally, the company has accumulated expertise in improving operational efficiency and know-how regarding the transition from paper forms to data management. These efforts were highly valued, leading to the adoption by other railway operators.

Taking this introduction as an opportunity, Tokyo Metro aims to utilize its cultivated railway technologies and insights to expand its business areas through REFMa. By doing so, the company intends to contribute to DX in maintenance operations across the entire railway industry and to the maintenance and service improvement of railway infrastructure.
