At Triple Ginza, an eyewear store located along Sotobori-dori in Ginza 6-chome, we will be offering a campaign for one month from July 1, 2026 (Wed) to July 31, 2026 (Fri), where the option fee (10,000 yen) for Carl Zeiss photochromic lenses will be free.
What are Photochromic Lenses?
Photochromic lenses are lenses whose tint changes in response to the amount of UV light and temperature. They return to being nearly transparent in places without UV exposure, such as indoors. These convenient lenses serve a dual purpose, eliminating the need to switch between eyeglasses and sunglasses.
What is Carl Zeiss?
Founded in Jena, Germany, in 1846 by optician Carl Zeiss, it is one of the world's oldest optical equipment manufacturers. Currently, they produce cutting-edge eyeglass lenses, astronomical telescopes, microscopes, optical sights, and camera lenses, widely used in areas related to our lives such as medicine, the film industry, and automotive applications. It is an optical equipment manufacturer that continues to drive innovation to realize a better future.
ZEISS PhotoFusion X
"PhotoFusion X" is a photochromic lens uniquely developed by Carl Zeiss. It is characterized by faster color development and fading (change from dark to transparent) speeds than conventional photochromic lenses, and an original color lineup of seven shades.
In addition to UV protection, they also feature blue light filtering, cutting over 20% of blue light indoors and 90% when the color is dark (blue light is cut by about 60% when dark).
Gray Blue
Extra Gray Pioneer
Black Brown
Burgundy
Among the seven colors, the vibrant blue inspired by the Zeiss logo and the new burgundy, which subtly expresses individuality under sunlight, are highly recommended as they are colors not found in photochromic lenses from other manufacturers.
ZEISS Adaptivesun
While normal photochromic lenses are almost colorless indoors (when not exposed to UV light), ZEISS Adaptivesun is a revolutionary photochromic lens that changes from a concentration of about 60% to over 90% upon exposure to UV light.
Normal photochromic lenses change color very little inside a car because the windshield blocks UV rays. They also have the drawback of not changing color easily at high temperatures, but ZEISS Adaptivesun is a new photochromic lens that overcomes these limitations.
However, due to their naturally darker tint, they are not recommended for use at night or in dark indoor environments. The base colors are available in gray, brown, green (Pioneer), and blue, with gradient colors also available, making them excellent lenses from a fashion perspective.
ZEISS Adaptivesun Solid Color (Full Color) Photochromic Lenses
Solid colors change from a concentration of 60% to a maximum concentration of 97%. Additionally, for the three colors gray, brown, and green (Pioneer), polarized photochromic lenses with added polarization function are also available.
Photochromic lenses with polarization can cut glare from reflections on glass and water surfaces, but they have the drawback of making LCD screens (smartphones, car navigation systems, etc.) difficult to see.

ZEISS Adaptivesun Gradient Color Photochromic Lenses
Solid colors change from a gradient color of 75%/25% to a full color of maximum concentration 97%.

Please take this opportunity to experience Carl Zeiss photochromic lenses.
Furthermore, Triple Ginza uses "VISUREF600," a next-generation autorefractor specialized for Carl Zeiss eyeglass stores, for measurements. By combining the binocular vision examination (subjective examination = examination where the customer answers while looking at an eye chart) normally performed at our store with the objective examination using "VISUREF600," we provide eyeglasses that reduce eye strain and offer clear vision.
Special Lenses from Carl Zeiss
Premium lenses with Zeiss's i.Scription technology can be manufactured. By considering the effects of higher-order aberrations, which were previously difficult to correct with glasses or contact lenses, in addition to common lower-order aberrations (myopia, astigmatism, hyperopia, etc.), vision is maximized. Specifically, improvements in night vision and contrast can be expected.
