Kiwado Onsen Retreat Yukyu no Toki, a scenic inn in Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, opened three new guest rooms on April 25, 2026, as the second chapter of its large-scale renewal.

The highlight of this renewal is the dedicated retreat space for yoga and meditation, elevated by one step, installed by the window in all rooms. Guests can spend a special time of 'returning to myself, the extraordinary' through yoga and meditation, bathed in the morning sun and full moon within their rooms.

Each guest room is equipped with a shower booth. After a quick rinse, guests can relax in the ocean-view public bath 'Yukyu no Yu (Kiwado Onsen)' within the facility.

With the opening of the new guest rooms, we are introducing new plans that allow guests to choose only dinner or only breakfast, in addition to the existing one-night, two-meal style. By incorporating 'meal subtraction' focusing on autophagy (self-eating) to create a 16-hour fasting period, we propose a new stay style that allows the digestive system to rest, lightens the mind and body, and sharpens the senses.

Furthermore, in conjunction with this renewal, we have newly introduced a 'barrel sauna'. In addition to the private room type that can be reserved by up to 4 guests, our one-floor suites also feature a private barrel sauna for 2 people. Guests can use it anytime they wish.

In a sauna enveloped in the warmth of wood, guests can prepare their mind and body, then enjoy an open-air bath while feeling the sea breeze. This is a new form of 'reset' that pairs well with yoga and meditation.

■ A 'Retreat' Journey to Rejuvenate Yourself

'Retreat' means physically distancing oneself from the hustle and bustle of everyday life to reset the mind and body. The core of the retreat concept at our inn is the 'retreat floor' equipped in the three new guest rooms. Named 'śāla' (Sanskrit for 'sacred place'), this raised platform is not merely a space for enjoying the superb view. What we want guests to experience here is a moment to let go of tension, surrender to the sound of the waves, and feel their present self.

The origin of yoga is 'to connect'. If stretching aims for physical flexibility, yoga aims for 'calming the mind' beyond that. Feeling the morning sun, slowly regulating breathing, and sensing oneself merging with the sea before one's eyes. A time of profound tranquility, as if silence gently accompanies you, brings the deep peace modern people need.

Guests can engage in yoga not only in their rooms but also on the coast adjacent to the property and in the lounge within the facility.

Optional yoga experience lessons by a dedicated instructor are also available.
