Crowdfunding Overview
Poultry Farming x AI x Welfare: The Third Generation's Challenge to Make Egg Sorting a Job Where Everyone Can Shine!
Implementation Period: May 1, 2026 - June 30, 2026
Target Amount: 3,000,000 yen
Purpose of Crowdfunding
Our company lost 100,000 chickens in a fire in January 2026, and with it, our experimental site. However, there's something we don't want to stop: the future of a new primary industry. This is a challenge to implement "Columbus' Egg" and to continue the progress of the employment model it creates.
Main Initiatives
The collected funds will be partially allocated to the implementation costs of "Columbus' Egg" at the reconstructed farm. If the target is exceeded, the funds will be used for demonstrations at multiple farms and for improving the employment environment for people with disabilities.
Invisible Barriers Created by Sorting Work Reliant on Experience and Intuition
Eggs laid at poultry farms are transported to GP centers, where dirt and cracks are removed before reaching the dining table. However, even at the farm, manual sorting by human eyes and hands is indispensable. This "human eye" sorting presented significant challenges. Because judgment relies on human eyes, over-exclusion or oversight of eggs can occur. The criteria for "what level of dirt is acceptable" became a black box, making it a "person-dependent job" reliant on the experience and intuition of skilled workers. Handling 400,000 eggs a day, this sorting work became a significant burden on the site and a factor accelerating labor shortages. That's why we developed "Columbus' Egg," which utilizes AI and projection mapping. The AI instantly identifies dirt and cracks on eggs and projects the results directly onto the eggs with light. This makes it immediately clear which eggs should be removed, allowing for accurate sorting even without special experience. The fact that "operation is not difficult" means that a job previously only manageable by skilled workers can be transformed into a role where people with disabilities can actively participate.
