(Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director/Physician: Yuki Yamada) will begin an initiative on June 1st aimed at early diagnosis and optimal treatment of Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC).

In this collaboration, the parties will open a case consultation window within 'Medii E-consult,' a service for physicians operated by Medii, staffed by a team of specialists well-versed in DIC. This provides an environment where attending physicians can consult with specialists online regarding cases where diagnostic or treatment decisions are challenging. Furthermore, they will disseminate content based on past cases and key points for diagnostic/treatment judgments.

By providing nationwide attending physicians with rapid access to specialist insights, this initiative aims to support early diagnosis and appropriate treatment selection for DIC, thereby contributing to improved clinical quality and optimized patient care.

### Background of the Initiative

Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC) is a life-threatening condition where the balance between clotting and fibrinolysis is disrupted, potentially leading to multi-organ failure and massive hemorrhage. Triggered by underlying factors such as infection, cancer, trauma, or obstetric complications, the causes and progress vary significantly per patient. Consequently, there is no standardized treatment, making it a challenging area that requires responses adapted to ever-changing conditions.

In light of these difficulties, this collaboration has been realized between Asahi Kasei Therapeutics, which has been involved in disease awareness for DIC, and Medii, which supports knowledge sharing among physicians.
