Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, hereinafter: Nissan) will release an 8-episode new web movie series titled "Mr. Tsuda's Suuuuper Nice Everyday," starring Atsuhiro Tsuda of the comedy duo Diane, starting June 30, 2026, on the official Nissan Motor YouTube channel. This series aims to help viewers feel more familiar with the features of the "Nissan Sakura," a mini electric vehicle that received minor updates in April of this year. Takako Matsu, who appears in Nissan Sakura's TV commercials, will serve as the narrator for this web movie.
The Nissan Sakura, a mini electric vehicle, boasts powerful, quiet, and smooth driving performance unique to its 100% motor drive, excellent maneuverability, overwhelming quietness, and a high-quality interior and exterior.
Since the minor model change in April of this year, these features have been encapsulated in the catchphrase "Suuu." In the TV commercial "Suuuuper Nice Everyday" featuring Takako Matsu, the Nissan Sakura is depicted as enabling smooth driving "Suuu" even in situations where drivers might feel nervous or worried, such as when turning right at an intersection or merging into traffic. Atsuhiro Tsuda of the comedy duo Diane made a cameo appearance as a "flower shop customer" in this TV commercial, related to the "Suuu" theme. Following the broadcast of the TV commercial, there was significant positive feedback regarding Tsuda's appearance, leading to the swift production of a new web movie series featuring him.
This web movie is a short drama set in the daily life of a fictional Tsuda family, featuring Tsuda as the father, along with his son and wife. The story begins with the premise that Tsuda, inspired by the elegant Nissan Sakura driven by Takako Matsu, has finally purchased one himself. While he wants to drive smoothly "Suuu" in front of his family, Tsuda repeatedly encounters trouble and becomes flustered. However, in each situation, he overcomes it "Suuu" thanks to the unique features of the Nissan Sakura, leading to a "Suuuuper Nice Everyday." This is humorously depicted across all 8 episodes.
In the "Suuu Smooth Merge" episode, which depicts the difficulty of merging into a busy street, Tsuda, feeling pressure from his wife and son in the back seat, anxiously tries to merge. He then smoothly joins the main road with a powerful, quiet, and smooth acceleration characteristic of the Nissan Sakura. Tsuda is seen grinning to himself with the internal thought, "I can merge, Suuu!" This is met with a quiet retort from his wife and son, "He's grinning for some reason."
The story includes Tsuda's signature lines such as "Here you go!!" and "Give me some gas...!!" It also features various hidden gags, including a guest appearance by "that person" familiar to Tsuda, and the appearance of "that song" related to Tsuda's real mother.
Please enjoy this web movie series, packed with the many charms of the Nissan Sakura.
Filming Episodes
Tsuda arrived at the studio wearing a shirt, which he often wears in his daily life. While filming scenes of him driving the Nissan Sakura, Tsuda spent the entire day with the car. During breaks in filming, he was seen carefully wiping and patting the Nissan Sakura, appearing to grow closer to the car "Suuu."
During this shoot, we saw Tsuda's expressions as an "actor, Atsuhiro Tsuda." In the scene where he drives with his wife and son, he conveyed the frustration and impatience of a father who wants to drive coolly in front of his family but can't quite manage it, showing various expressions. Even during filming with a green screen in the studio, he acted naturally, as if he were actually driving.
Additionally, in a scene where Tsuda calls the actress playing his mother, he performed an ad-lib based on the director's request, exclaiming lines like "You're noisy! Let me say I'm noisy!" and "Waaaaah!!" with his full Tsuda-esque energy. In a post-shoot interview, he spoke affectionately of the Sakura as his partner, saying, "Next time, I want to appear in Sakura and Lumine," and the filming concluded in a cheerful atmosphere.
Atsuhiro Tsuda Post-Shoot Interview
Q1. What are your thoughts on appearing in this web movie, which started with your 0.5-second cameo?
I was happy. I had asked them to "film me" during the previous TV commercial shoot, so it feels like a dream come true. It proves that if you believe, your dreams will come true someday. I want to tell today's youth that dreams do come true. Don't give up.
Q2. How was driving the Nissan Sakura?
It's really quiet. But you can feel the power; when you step on the accelerator, it just goes. The ride comfort is good too. The acceleration is excellent. And because it's quiet, conversations inside the car are easy to have. I could even hear the child playing my son's voice, even when he spoke softly, so I thought, "Ah, this is really quiet." I think this is thanks to the Nissan Sakura's quietness.
Q3. Do you have any memorable family driving experiences?
I've always driven a Nissan Serena, and my family has owned two of them. My wife doesn't want to drive anything other than a Serena. We've been to many places. We went to Ise Jingu and took long trips. Normally, sometimes she doesn't respond when I ask her things, but in a car, she answers everything honestly, so to speak. I could easily ask about school and other things. Since I'm often away for work, it's the best communication tool in that sense.
Q4. You played an "easily teased father." Is that similar to your real family life?
It's a bit similar. They tease me. Especially my daughter, she teases me a bit. When she teases me too much, I get a little sulky, and then she comes to apologize later. Like, "Sorry about earlier." So, it's like that in everyday life. That's why I was surprised. I wondered if they had surveillance cameras on my house. It felt that real.
Q5. Please share an episode where you overcame a tense situation "Suuu" smoothly.
Recently, when I appeared in a drama, I didn't have much experience, so I was very nervous. I practiced with my family playing the other roles. So, when I'm with any actor now, if I treat them like family, the tension just melts away "Suuu."
Q6. Please tell us about a recent "Suuuuper Nice" event.
Every day is special. I really try to find one wonderful thing every day. Today, for example, the weather is nice. That alone makes it a wonderful day. You have to find something wonderful, even if it's small. Everyone, please find one wonderful thing, even if it's just that your meal was delicious. That's enough. Please find a little wonderful thing in your everyday life.
