[Shizuoka] Supporting Self-Care for Working Women with "YOGA x Emuart Lab"

Nihon Health Mate Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture, President & CEO: Ikuhiro Shiraishi), which develops the skincare and makeup brand "Emuart" focusing on "natural gel" that is gentle on the skin and enhances its natural beauty, operates the community space "Emuart Lab" with the theme of "skincare that can be continued without strain, and self-care including the body as well as the skin."

As part of these efforts, on June 23, 2026, they held their second Emuart Lab event, "YOGA x Emuart Lab: A Yoga Experience Event to Refresh Both Mind and Skin."

In recent years, with the increase in dual-income households and changes in lifestyles, many people are juggling multiple roles such as work, housework, and childcare, and time for self-care often gets pushed to the back burner.

Over our 31 years of engaging with our customers' skin, we have realized that skin is deeply connected not only to skincare but also to daily life, including sleep, diet, exercise, and stress.

Therefore, with the desire to "deliver even a little time to cherish oneself," we planned an experiential event combining yoga, which harmonizes the mind and body, with skincare. Four women, primarily yoga beginners, participated.

Event Highlights

As the instructor, we invited Yuko Konuma, a yoga instructor active mainly in Shizuoka City, who led a beginner-friendly yoga lesson with the theme of "breathing, posture, and circulation." Skin health is deeply connected not only to skincare but also to bodily circulation and daily lifestyle habits. Improving circulation leads to a body that is better able to receive essential nutrients for the skin, which is why we planned a program combining yoga and skincare for this event.

Initially, the participants seemed a little nervous.

As they took poses together and synchronized their breathing, smiles naturally emerged, and a sense of unity filled the venue. During some of the more challenging poses,

"Ouch!"

"My leg is going to cramp (lol)"

comments like these elicited laughter. By moving their bodies while encouraging each other, a relaxed atmosphere unfolded, making it hard to believe they were meeting for the first time.

After harmonizing their minds and bodies with yoga, a mini-seminar was held on post-exercise skincare.

As a gift, we provided cleansing samples and explained how to wash the face after sweating and how to cleanse without rubbing the skin.

"Let's try to be a little more conscious of this starting today" – both for yoga and skincare.

It was a time for participants to take home small acts of self-care.

Participant Feedback

In the post-event survey, all participants responded with "satisfied" or higher for both the yoga lesson and the skincare lecture.

Furthermore, all participants indicated they "want to continue yoga" and "want to participate again," with comments such as:

"My body felt loosened up and I felt very relaxed at the end."

"I want to continue even if it's just one pose a day."

"I felt comfortable participating even if I couldn't do it perfectly."

"I want to be conscious of washing without scrubbing."

These comments reflected a heightened awareness of self-care and changes in their mind and body.

Additionally, many participants expressed interest in future events such as "yoga events," "inner care lectures," and "skincare lectures," showing anticipation for the continued hosting of Emuart Lab events.

Future Plans

Emuart Lab is a place for learning and experience, designed for working individuals and those who strive daily to find "skincare that can be continued without strain, and self-care including the body as well as the skin."

This event fostered natural conversations and interactions among participants through yoga and skincare, becoming a place not only for learning knowledge but also for connecting people.

Moving forward, we will continue to hold regular experiential events in collaboration with local companies and experts, covering a variety of themes that align with daily life, including exercise, diet, and sleep, not limited to skincare.

We will nurture Emuart Lab to provide an opportunity for as many people as possible to think, "I'll try to take a little care of myself today."
