Nippon Carrier Corporation (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Mineo Maruyama) has announced that it has begun accepting orders for its newly released inverter-driven water-cooled chillers and heat recovery water-cooled chillers. These new products incorporate the advanced technologies cultivated in our Universal Smart X (USX)® series, which leads the Japanese market in modular chillers, while featuring R32 refrigerant-compatible inverter DC triple rotary compressors. They feature a lightweight and compact design that significantly improves installation efficiency.

Our company is the Japanese subsidiary of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), the world's leading provider of intelligent solutions for climate and energy challenges.

In recent years, in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by responding to intensifying climate change, tackling carbon neutrality, and adopting refrigerants with lower environmental impact, there has been a growing demand for improved energy-saving performance in heat source equipment, which accounts for a large portion of energy consumption in entire facilities. Furthermore, manpower shortages in installation and servicing have heightened the need for labor-saving solutions, making it urgent to address diverse social issues. Against this backdrop, we have focused on developing this product from multiple perspectives—including environmental consideration, safety design, larger capacity, ease of installation, risk distribution, and serviceability—and strive to solve our customers' challenges by delivering an enriched lineup of heat source products.

In such an environment, the new products boast the following remarkable features:

Improved Installation Efficiency via Lightweight Design: Similar to our modular chiller "USX FIT," which won the top prize at the 2025 Demand Side Management Awards, these products are equipped with an R32 refrigerant-compatible inverter DC triple rotary compressor. Achieving the lightest weight level and smallest installation footprint among equivalent industry products (according to our research), they can be easily transported via elevators, vastly improving installation efficiency.

Coexistence of Energy Savings and Compactness: The adoption of the triple rotary compressor simultaneously achieves enhanced energy savings and an increased capacity of up to 50HP (*1). Covering a wide capacity range from a single module (30HP) up to 16 connected modules (800HP), they can be adopted for a diverse array of applications. They are highly suitable not only for replacing older chilling units but also for renewal projects involving absorption chillers and centrifugal chillers.

Reduced Environmental Impact: By adopting the low-GWP refrigerant R32 and utilizing a design compliant with the guidelines for handling mildly flammable refrigerants (GL-17), we deliver safety and peace of mind to our customers. Additionally, a paint-free exterior drastically reduces the use of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).

Harmonic Suppression Measures: While harmonic mitigation normally requires separate installation of devices like active filters, the standard inclusion of a PWM converter suppresses harmonics, eliminating the need for additional countermeasures.

Expanded Water Temperature Range and Stable, High-Precision Temperature Control: The chilled water set temperature range has been expanded to 3°C - 30°C. In manufacturing settings, this allows for adoption in a wide range of applications, including food and chemicals, in addition to conventional uses in automotive-related, machinery, and electronic components industries. Moreover, by executing optimal water temperature setting control using an inverter compressor, stable and highly precise operation is achieved.

Risk Distribution and Improved Serviceability: Subdividing the refrigeration cycle achieves risk distribution. In the event of a malfunction, the affected module can be isolated, and the compressor can be replaced individually.

Peace of Mind with Remote Monitoring: By subscribing to "Abound HVAC Performance," reliable operation is ensured through 24/7 remote monitoring year-round. Automatic detection of refrigerant leaks combined with email notifications sent to user administrators enables early discovery of refrigerant leaks.

Further Energy Savings with Variable Flow Control (Custom Order): The units feature external pump control terminals for supply water and heat source water, enabling reductions in transport power through flow control. Additionally, a design that incorporates each sensor of the water circuit into the module controller (MC) reduces the burden on designers and leads to labor savings in construction.

Mineo Maruyama, President and CEO of Nippon Carrier, commented: "This product fully leverages our core strength in modular chiller technology to significantly update our conventional water-cooled chiller products, successfully merging multiple values—such as environmental performance, safety, installability, and maintainability—at a high level. Nippon Carrier will continue to listen to the voices of those working on the frontlines, shaping the value that is truly needed while staying close to actual challenges, and will keep walking toward realizing a sustainable future by creating products that contribute to solving social issues."
