Child poverty remains one of Japan’s most pressing social issues. During long school holidays, many children lose access to school lunches, making it difficult for economically disadvantaged families to ensure stable meals.

The 'Tomorrow HOPE Project' was launched in 2022 to address child poverty by supporting scholarship programs for students pursuing their dreams.

Now, as part of the Tomorrow HOPE initiative, the foundation is joining Kids' Door’s 'Family Support' program, specifically its summer food assistance initiative.

This program aims to establish a sustainable system for delivering food support to families in need. With support from Amway Japan Corporation, Amway employees and members will volunteer in packaging and distribution activities, officially launching this summer under the theme 'Bringing Health to Children.'

Yumiko Watanabe, Chairperson of certified NPO Kids' Door, said: 'During summer break, many children go without proper meals and cannot afford to use air conditioning. While sending a few food items may seem small, we’ve received feedback from families saying, ‘Now that we’ve received supplies, we can keep going a little longer.’ We are deeply grateful for the support reaching families in need.'

Jiafeng Tong, Chairman of The Amway Foundation Japan, stated: 'The Tomorrow HOPE Project addresses child poverty through dual support in health and education. Our partnership with Kids' Door is a crucial step in bringing this vision to society, contributing to an environment where children can grow healthily and hold hope for the future.'

In June, ahead of the official launch, the foundation donated products for 100 sets under Kids' Door’s 'Family Support Food Shipment' program. In July, the foundation will fund half of the planned 3,500 households for the 'Summer Food Support' program, while Amway Japan will donate an equivalent number of product sets, including personalized letters to each household.

Moving forward, the foundation will continue to collaborate with stakeholders to support children’s physical and mental well-being and healthy development.
