Release of "Elifight Clear Outdoor Type," a Fire-Resistant Tempered Glass Fire-Rated Device

Bunka Shutter Co., Ltd. (President: Hiroyuki Ogura) will launch the "Elifight Clear Outdoor Type," a fire-rated device with fire-resistant tempered glass that achieves a clear view and transparency, on June 30. This device can be installed in openings facing the "exterior" of commercial facilities, stores, condominiums, etc. and has been certified by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

The "Elifight Clear Outdoor Type" being launched is an expansion of the steel-type "Elifight Clear," which was released in 2020 for "internal installation." It has been developed for "external installation" due to numerous customer requests. It is a fire-rated device with fire-resistant tempered glass that has obtained certification from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for four types: single-swing, double-swing (parent-child), double-swing, and fixed.

Adoption of "Transparent Fire-Resistant Tempered Glass" with High Design and Visibility, Considering Safety

Previously, "wired glass" was generally used for glass-filled fire-rated devices installed in openings facing the exterior of buildings. However, the "Elifight Clear Outdoor Type" improves design and visibility by adopting "transparent fire-resistant tempered glass."

This fire-resistant tempered glass is resistant to impact and heat. A 8mm thick type with high transparency is used. In the unlikely event of breakage, the glass fragments become granular, ensuring a design that considers safety. Furthermore, since certification from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has been obtained for specifications with shatter-resistant film and security film applied, it is a fire-rated device that also considers security.

Clears Standards Required by Industry-First Public Building Standard Specifications

The "Elifight Clear Outdoor Type," designed for installation in openings facing the exterior, is the first in the industry (※2) as a fire-rated device with transparent glass to clear the standards for wind pressure resistance, airtightness, and watertightness required by public building standard specifications (※3).
