What is Okuizumo Wagyu?

A rare black-haired Japanese beef produced in Unnan City, Shimane Prefecture. Annual shipments are limited to just a few hundred head, earning it the nickname 'phantom black-haired Wagyu.' At the National Wagyu Competition 2022 (Kagoshima), a five-year event that crowns Japan's top Wagyu, it ranked first nationwide in Division 6 (Flower Division) among 166 entries from 41 prefectures. It also received a Special Award (Fat Quality Award) as the top-ranked animal in fat quality, achieving a double honor.

3. [Important] Review of Return Gifts and Donation Amounts Due to October Regulatory Changes

In accordance with Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications notices effective October 1, 2026, Unnan City has begun reviewing the composition of all return gifts and donation amounts.

Some return gifts will cease accepting applications as of Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

From Thursday, October 1, 2026 onward, certain return gifts will see changes in donation amounts (including increases).

Donors wishing to apply under current terms are advised to complete procedures by September 30, 2026.

Unnan City remains committed to complying with laws and regulations and ensuring sound operation of the furu-sato tax program.
