Iwanuma City, Miyagi Prefecture, will fully renovate the former Hanatopia Iwanuma site and open a new vibrant hub centered on children's play, 'miiina (Miiina),' on Friday, June 19, Reiwa 8. A 'treasure mountain' where multiple generations can enjoy themselves all day long is being born, featuring Tohoku's largest large-scale water play equipment, indoor play facilities safe for rainy days, and 'NISHIKIYA KITCHEN & CAFÉ' by local company Nishiki Shokuhin.
1. 454 Submissions Nationwide! A 'Treasure Mountain' for Children Filled with Everyone's 'Nice!'
Logo of 'miiina (Miiina)'
The name of the new facility 'miiina (Miiina)' was selected from 454 ideas submitted through a public recruitment campaign. It combines 'mina' (Mina), meaning 'treasure mountain' in Spanish, with the wish that this place will be somewhere 'nice' for everyone.
Additionally, the 'i' in the logo is designed to resemble children, and the three 'iii' characters express the image of children happily playing together.
2. [Outdoor] Tohoku's First! Large-Scale Water Play Equipment Themed on the Sea
Water Play Zone
The highlight of the outdoor area is the large-scale, feature-packed water play equipment, the largest in Tohoku. It provides an environment where children can play energetically and joyfully even during the intense summer heat, with fountains and buckets that dump large amounts of water from above. Outside the summer season, it can also be enjoyed as regular composite play equipment.
Large Composite Play Equipment and Pedal Cars
Additionally, in the hill zone, large composite play equipment, pedal cars, and mud play are available, satisfying even older elementary school children.
3. [Indoor] Full-Body Play and Authentic Pretend Play in an All-Weather Play Area
The approximately 2,300㎡ indoor play area is all-weather, providing peace of mind on extremely hot or rainy days.
Kids Airship
A projector illuminates a giant ball pool. Visitors can enjoy a digital attraction where images react when balls are thrown at the walls, alongside net play equipment.
Mokumoku Town
An area enveloped in the warmth of wood, where children can immerse themselves in pretend play like housekeeping. Through wooden toys, children's creativity and communication skills are nurtured. B-blocks, which can be freely assembled, are also available to foster imagination.
Sukusuku Garden
A cushioned area exclusively for children aged 0–1 years old. Since the area is completely partitioned off, even very young children can safely enjoy crawling and sensory play.
Challenge Plaza
The largest active area indoors. Equipped with large net play equipment and a zip line, it allows even older elementary school children to dynamically develop their balance using their entire body.
Picture Book Space
A space where parents and children can spend a relaxed and calm time together. Approximately 150 picture books and encyclopedias help expand intellectual curiosity.
Event Plaza
Fun events such as storytelling sessions and craft workshops are held once every hour. It's a vibrant spot where visitors can encounter new experiences and discoveries each time they visit.
Hirameki Atelier
An area to enjoy free expression. Creativity can be shaped through drawing with 'Kitpas,' a magical chalk that washes off with water, and woodcraft experiences.
Sand Terrace
An open semi-outdoor sand play area. Children can freely play with various sand toys, enjoying creative play while feeling the outdoor air without worrying about the weather.
Multi-Purpose Area
A dining space where visitors can enjoy their own packed lunches and drinks. It serves as a convenient base for taking a break between play sessions, allowing families to spend a full, relaxed day together.
4. [Food & Culture] Collaboration between 'NISHIKIYA KITCHEN & CAFÉ' and 'Nigiwai Market'
At the 'Food & Market Terrace' within the facility, 'NISHIKIYA KITCHEN & CAFÉ' by Nishiki Shokuhin, a renowned maker of retort curry from Iwanuma, will open. It will collaborate with fresh local produce from the adjacent direct-sales market 'Nigiwai Market,' promoting the charm of Iwanuma's cuisine.
5. [Summer-Only] 'Mushimushi Land - Mizugami no Mori' Where You Can Interact with Rhinoceros Beetles
During the summer vacation period only, 'Mushimushi Land - Mizugami no Mori,' where rhinoceros beetles are released inside a dome, will open. Additionally, the popular free-to-use 'Fuwafuwa Dome' and a vast lawn area are available, allowing for diverse activities such as picnics.
