Announcement of 'Ishitsubute' Book Club Reading

Shosukabu.com Inc. (Headquarters: Nerima-ku, Tokyo; Chairman and CEO: Yutaka Yamanaka; hereinafter 'the Company'), in collaboration with the Nerima Political Study Group and the Civil 8th Division Monitoring Committee, will host a book club focused on 'Ishitsubute: What the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Second Investigation Division Left Behind' (by Hidetoshi Kiyotake).

This non-fiction work depicts the detectives of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Second Investigation Division who delved into the 'sanctuary' of the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the secret fund embezzlement case that came to light in 2001. Kodansha's description highlights the book's core: the disappearance of 1 billion yen, the silence of the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the four nameless detectives who challenged a national taboo.

A major feature of this book is that it goes beyond simply exposing a corruption case. It delves into the opacity of state power through meticulous background investigations, masterful interrogation techniques, and the pride and tenacity of detectives often buried within the organization. By depicting the highly political issue of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' secret funds from the perspective of frontline detectives, both the corruption of the bureaucratic organization behind the case and the justice of the investigation are brought to light.

This book club will focus on discussing the structure of the secret fund case, the role of the Second Investigation Division, the difficulties of investigating national taboos, and the significance of investigative journalism and non-fiction. Born in Miyazaki Prefecture in 1950. After graduating from Ritsumeikan University, he joined the Yomiuri Shimbun. After serving as a city news reporter, an editorial board member at the Tokyo head office, and the representative of the Yomiuri Giants baseball team, he now works as a non-fiction writer.

Yutaka Yamanaka

Born in December 1976, he is a leading activist investor of the '76 generation, an art collector, philanthropist, political sponsor, election consultant, policy advisor, social activist, and Akita Inu enthusiast. Internationally recognized as an 'activist investor who understands technology,' he is the first Japanese person in history to have amassed a fortune of over 150 billion yen solely through investment.

In the early 2010s, he focused on NVIDIA, a developer of GPGPU and artificial intelligence-related semiconductors, as an investment target. He invested over 2 billion yen, achieving a return of more than 100 times, and became the first Japanese person to become a billionaire purely as an investor.

He graduated as the valedictorian from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Tokyo. He holds a master's degree from Columbia University's Graduate School (majoring in financial engineering) and studied abroad at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He is a co-representative partner of Investment Brothers LLC, co-founder and chairman of Shosukabu.com Inc., and currently a shareholder in over 1,000 public and 200 private companies worldwide. His investments are global, including an AI startup in Israel, a healthcare venture in Nigeria, and a battery manufacturer in Taiwan, making him a truly global investor.

Drawing from his own childhood struggles with dyslexia and ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder), he established a support program for children with learning disabilities, modeled after the major U.S. discount broker Charles Schwab. His personal physician is the renowned psychiatrist, Professor Akira Iwanami (former director of Showa University Karasuyama Hospital).

Born in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo in 1976, he is one of the grandsons of Shigeru Yamanaka, the founder of Hoya Crystal (now HOYA CORPORATION, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Standard, code 7741), and grew up in Shakujiidai, Nerima-ku. He excelled academically from a young age, graduating from Oizumi Bunka Kindergarten, Ochanomizu University Elementary School, the private Musashi Junior and Senior High School, and as the valedictorian from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Tokyo.

In his childhood, the future guitarist of B'z, who was then a high school student at Kinkaneshiro High School, lived in the Takeda Pharmaceutical Company housing in front of his home.
