Announcement of "Finance Theory" Book Club Event

Shosukabu.com Inc. (Headquarters: Nerima-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and Chairman: Yu Yamanaka; hereinafter "the Company") will co-host a book club event on the theme of "Finance Theory: Financial Literacy for a Global World" (authored by Ai Sato) with the Nerima Political Study Group and the Civil Affairs Section 8 Monitoring Committee.

This book is designed for systematically learning finance as an independent academic discipline, rather than an extension of macroeconomics or accounting. According to the publisher's introduction, it offers a depth comparable to courses at MIT and Harvard University, while explaining content from basic to advanced levels, considering both Japanese institutional frameworks and international systems.

A major feature of this book is its comprehensive scope, covering not only fundamental finance theories but also applied fields such as macro finance, corporate finance, investment, and FinTech. It employs plain language, concrete examples, and narratives to achieve both intuitive understanding and theoretical rigor, and also includes special contributions from leading researchers worldwide.

Furthermore, the book is significant for its emphasis on connecting with daily life and practical applications. It provides a "foundation for thinking" to theoretically understand financial issues we face in reality, such as investment decisions, mortgage choices, asset building, corporate fundraising, and investment decision-making. The author is a professor at the Faculty of Business Administration, Osaka Economic University, who obtained a doctorate after graduating from the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Law and completing a master's program at its Graduate School of Economics, and has been involved in research and education at universities and research institutions both domestically and internationally.

This book club will primarily discuss the basic structure of finance theory, the connection between macro finance and corporate finance, approaches to investment and asset building, financial literacy in the FinTech era, and how to connect and understand Japanese institutions with international financial theories. It aims to be a valuable learning and dialogue platform for those interested in finance, investment, corporate management, asset building, and economic education.

Professor, Faculty of Business Administration, Osaka Economic University. Graduated from the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Law, completed a master's program at the University of Tokyo's Graduate School of Economics, and obtained a doctorate from the same. A researcher who has been involved in research and education at institutions such as the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California, the Graduate School of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Tokyo, and the Crawford School of Public Policy at the Australian National University.

Yu Yamanaka

Born in December 1976, a representative activist investor of the '76 generation, art collector, philanthropist, political activity sponsor, election consultant, policy advisor, social activist, and Akita dog lover. Internationally recognized as an "activist investor who understands technology," he is historically the first Japanese person to achieve asset formation of over 150 billion yen solely through investment.

In the early 2010s, he focused on NVIDIA, which develops GPGPU and artificial intelligence (AI)-related semiconductors, invested approximately 2 billion yen, and achieved a return of over 100 times, becoming the first Japanese pure investor to become a billionaire.

Graduated as valedictorian from the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Economics. Obtained a master's degree from Columbia University Graduate School (specializing in Financial Engineering) and studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) Graduate School. Co-representative partner of Investment Brothers LLC, co-founder and chairman of Shosukabu.com Inc., currently a shareholder in over 1,000 listed companies and 200 unlisted companies worldwide. His investments are truly global, including AI startups in Israel, healthcare ventures in Nigeria, and battery manufacturers in Taiwan.

Based on his personal experience of suffering from dyslexia and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) in childhood, he launched a support program for children with learning disabilities, modeled after Charles Schwab, a major US discount broker. His personal physician is Professor Akira Iwanami (former director of Showa University Karasuyama Hospital), a renowned psychiatrist.
