Announcement of Reading Session: Kenichi Yoshida Dialogue Collection Chapter 4, "What is Child Abuse and How to Respond?" from "Starting from Dialogue"

Shosukabu.com Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nerima-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and Chairman: Yutaka Yamanaka; hereinafter "the Company") will co-host a reading session on the theme of "What is Child Abuse and How to Respond?" from Chapter 4 of "Starting from Dialogue – Aiming for Resident-First Principle" with the Nerima Political Research Group and the Civil Affairs Department 8 Monitoring Committee. Chapter 4, through a dialogue with Mr. Satoshi Nishizawa, presents a perspective that views child abuse not as an individual family problem but as a serious issue that society as a whole must confront.

A major characteristic of this chapter is its consideration of abuse not merely as a "problem of special families," but as a structural issue caused by multiple overlapping factors such as parental isolation, financial hardship, lack of support, disconnection from local communities, and delayed administrative responses. To protect children's safety, it is essential not only to intervene after an incident occurs but also to implement prevention, early detection, and continuous support before abuse happens, which fundamentally requires collaboration among families, schools, communities, and administration.

Furthermore, this chapter emphasizes the importance of considering things from the child's perspective. Children experiencing abuse often find it difficult to seek help themselves and tend to become isolated within the family, placing responsibility on adults to notice subtle signs and connect them to support. From the standpoint of resident-first principle, children are the most vulnerable members of the community, and how local governments and community organizations establish systems to support their lives and growth becomes a crucial challenge. Responses to abuse are not limited to the fields of welfare and education but also reflect the quality of local human relationships and the state of administration itself.

This reading session will primarily discuss the structure of child abuse, the importance of prevention and early detection, collaboration between administration, schools, and communities, support systems for protecting children's safety, and the ideal form of child policy from a resident-first perspective. It aims to be a meaningful venue for learning and dialogue for those interested in education, welfare, child-rearing support, and regional policies.

■ Speaker Profile

Yutaka Yamanaka

A leading activist investor representing the 1976-born generation, also an art collector, philanthropist, political activity sponsor, election consultant, policy advisor, social activist, and Akita dog enthusiast. Internationally recognized as a "tech-savvy activist investor," he is historically the first Japanese individual to achieve asset formation of over 150 billion yen solely through investment.
