Kamakura Hasedera Temple: Enjoy Hydrangea Viewing Comfortably with Advance Reservations!

Kamakura Hasedera Temple (Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture), where over 40 varieties and approximately 2,500 hydrangeas bloom, is scheduled to begin accepting online advance applications for 'Ajisai Tickets' from late May. These tickets allow visitors to specify their entry date and time, with the aim of alleviating congestion and improving convenience for visitors to the 'Ajisai Path,' which is typically in full bloom from late May to late June each year.

Each year, the Ajisai Path becomes very crowded during peak blooming season. Therefore, in addition to the admission fee paid on the day (400 yen for adults, 200 yen for elementary school students), those wishing to enter the Ajisai Path will need an 'Ajisai Ticket' (a donation of 500 yen, for elementary school students and above). This 'Ajisai Ticket' can be purchased on the day of your visit or applied for in advance online. By using this system, you can enter smoothly at your pre-specified time, allowing you to enjoy hydrangea viewing comfortably.

If you plan to proceed to the Ajisai Path, we recommend applying for an 'Ajisai Ticket' in advance online before visiting the temple.

■ Important Notes

・To reach the Ajisai Path, you must climb approximately 80 steps. The Ajisai Path itself also has about 130 steps. There are no slopes available for either.

・The number of 'Ajisai Tickets' is limited. If they run out, you will not be able to proceed to the Ajisai Path.

・If you do not plan to enter the Ajisai Path, please pay only the admission fee at the entrance on the day of your visit. Hydrangeas are also planted and displayed in various other areas within the temple grounds besides the Ajisai Path.

・Even if you have reserved an 'Ajisai Ticket' online, the admission fee (400 yen for adults, 200 yen for elementary school students) must be paid on the day of your visit. Online advance payment for the admission fee is not available.

How to Reserve 'Ajisai Tickets' Online

① The paid period will be determined considering the bloom status and announced on the Hasedera Temple website (https://www.hasedera.jp/). The URL for the online ticket reservation site will also be published at the same time. *Announcement started on May 28th in 2025.

② Online reservations for 'Ajisai Tickets' for the upcoming seven days, starting from that weekend, will begin every Tuesday at 10:00 AM on the ticket site.

③ Please apply for your desired date and time (500 yen for elementary school students and above; up to 10 people can be reserved).

・The entry reception time is designated in 60-minute slots. Please arrive at the entrance of the Ajisai Path within your designated time.

(Example: [Slot 1] 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM, [Slot 2] 8:10 AM - 9:10 AM, [Slot 3] 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM... [Final Slot] 3:50 PM - 4:50 PM)

・You cannot enter the Ajisai Path before your designated reception time. You will have to wait even if you arrive early.

・If you are late for your designated entry reception time, you will be asked to wait within the temple grounds before entering.

・Tickets reserved online can be canceled until the day before.

① Pay the admission fee at the Hasedera Temple entrance (400 yen for adults, 200 yen for elementary school students).

② Come to the entrance of the Ajisai Path within the designated reception time for your pre-applied 'Ajisai Ticket' and present your QR code.

③ Proceed to the Ajisai Path.

　For those purchasing 'Ajisai Tickets' on the day

① Pay the admission fee at the Hasedera Temple entrance (400 yen for adults, 200 yen for elementary school students).

② At the same-day ticket reception at the entrance of the upper Ajisai Path, purchase an 'Ajisai Ticket' (a donation of 500 yen, for elementary school students and above).

*You can choose your desired time slot, but some reception times may already be closed.

*If there is a long waiting time, it is possible to temporarily leave the temple grounds. When re-entering, both your admission ticket and 'Ajisai Ticket' must be presented.

③ Come to the entrance of the upper Ajisai Path within the designated entry reception time for your 'Ajisai Ticket' and present your 'Ajisai Ticket'.

・Depending on congestion and weather conditions, you may have to wait even within your designated time slot.

・Pets are not allowed on the premises. However, if you must bring one, please keep it in a pet carrier or bag and be considerate of other visitors. In such cases, pets are not permitted in indoor facilities such as the main halls or dining areas.

・A representative can purchase 'Ajisai Tickets' for multiple people. If you temporarily leave the temple and re-enter, you must present both the admission ticket and 'Ajisai Ticket' for all members at the ticket counter.

・Same-day tickets are not refundable due to customer's convenience.
