Dainippon Paint to Relocate to New Headquarters with a 'Blend' Concept, Consolidating Functions onto a Single Floor

Dainippon Paint Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Osaka; Representative Director and President: Takayuki Sato) is pleased to announce that it will commence operations at its new headquarters on September 24, 2026. Based on the concept of "Blend," the company will strengthen collaboration across generations and departments and relocate to a headquarters where each employee can maximize their performance.

As part of the project for its 100th anniversary in fiscal year 2029, and under the policy of "company-wide optimization of human resources and business activities" set forth in its 2026 Medium-Term Management Plan, the company will relocate its head office (headquarters) with the aim of strengthening organizational capabilities and creating an environment where human resources can thrive.

With this headquarters relocation, the entire headquarters has been redesigned with the concept of "Blend" = "Interacting." "Blend" is a concept where different entities harmonize to create new value. We aim to create a state where personnel from different departments and roles naturally interact, and new ideas and insights emerge from daily communication.

This headquarters relocation is not merely a change of location; it is an initiative to review the office environment, working styles, and communication based on this "Blend" concept. Through this, we aim to transform into an organization that enhances cross-departmental collaboration and enables each employee to maximize their performance.

What will be achieved at the new headquarters

■ Strengthening organizational capabilities

We will strengthen inter-departmental collaboration and improve operational efficiency and decision-making speed. Headquarters functions will be consolidated from six floors to one floor, and a "Blend Stage," a place for interaction, presentations, and refreshment, will be installed in the center of the office. Additionally, "Blend Points," which serve as natural contact points where various departments intersect, will be arranged along the main traffic routes. This will enable immediate consultation and collaboration across departments, promoting communication that goes beyond mere information sharing. Discussions and idea generation will occur daily, leading to quick decision-making and new initiatives.

"Blend Stage" features diverse communication spaces. Our company's paints are used for the coatings. "Blend Point" is an ideal space for brief meetings with sofas. It creates a flow where employees naturally gather, conversations arise, and discussions develop.

■ Creating an environment where human resources can thrive

By introducing ABW (Activity Based Working), we will create an environment where employees can choose their work location according to their tasks. By providing diverse areas such as concentration booths, diner-style booths, and height-adjustable desks, we will create an environment where employees can think for themselves, choose their optimal working style, and maximize their performance.

Furthermore, we will promote document reduction (target 70%). By installing dual monitors in each area and creating an environment where document confirmation and sharing can be completed on-screen, we will realize location-independent work styles.

At the same time, by introducing office casual attire, adopting glass-walled meeting rooms, abolishing executive seating, and, through a top-down initiative from the president, abolishing the use of official titles and introducing the "san" honorific, we aim to transform into a flat and outspoken organizational culture, irrespective of position, seniority, or department.
