■Background of Project Commencement
This project aims to realize the "Kyushu University Hakozaki Campus Site Grand Design" by leveraging the history and vast grounds of Kyushu University to create a hub where diverse people gather and generate innovation. It is also Japan's largest smart city development based on the philosophy of "FUKUOKA Smart EAST" (*), integrating tradition and innovation.
Through collaborative efforts where industry, government, academia, and citizens each play their part, we aim to create and disseminate new industries and realize future town development that leads the world as an environmentally advanced city.

To achieve sustainable development while solving various urban development challenges such as declining birthrates and aging populations, this initiative aims to create comfortable, high-quality lifestyles and urban spaces through the introduction of advanced technologies, thereby contributing to future-proud town development.
As a pioneering effort, it will begin with town development in Hakozaki, which will then spread throughout the city, beyond the city, and reach a wider audience.
■Vision for the Town
Hakozaki, the site of the plan, has inherited tradition and pride for over 100 years since the opening of Kyushu Imperial University in 1911. This project aims to leverage its historical background and vast grounds to become a hub where various people gather and create innovation.
The concept is "HAKOZAKI Green Innovation Campus."
By incorporating the IOWN concept (*), which is an innovative technology development for Japan to win globally and change the game, we will build an environment that constantly incorporates new values and technologies, enabling the update of smart services and the creation of new services.
