Kaki Clothing G.K. (Location: Kita-ku, Osaka; Representative: Maiko Kodera) has announced its appointment as the exclusive distributor in Japan for the long-established stationery brand 'Pigna,' which was founded in 1839 in the Lombardy region of Italy.
In line with this, the company will exhibit at the 'Lifestyle Week [Summer] / ISOT (International Stationery & Paper Products Fair)' held at Tokyo Big Sight from Wednesday, June 24 to Friday, June 26, 2026, to officially launch business negotiations and wholesale distribution to domestic buyers and retailers.
The agreement originated from a meeting at 'Ambiente,' the world's largest consumer goods trade fair in Frankfurt, Germany. Kaki Clothing's representative, Ms. Kodera, connected with Mr. Andrea Bonardi, President of the Italian Association of Temporary Export Managers (IMIT), who also serves as a consultant for Pigna, leading to the partnership. "There is a significance that we can fulfill precisely because we are not a large corporation. I believe Pigna's spirit will undoubtedly resonate in Japan, a country that loves stationery and has a discerning eye for quality goods," stated Ms. Kodera.
According to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's 'Current Production Statistics' (2024), Japan's stationery shipment value reached 165.9 billion yen, a 5.4% increase year-on-year, marking the fourth consecutive year of growth. This indicates a fertile ground for Pigna's 'Slow Writing' philosophy, which cherishes the act of handwriting.
Pigna, a national brand in Italy since 1839, is also registered as a 'Historic Trademark of National Interest' by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development for its quality and history. The premium line 'PdiPigna' is creatively directed by renowned designer Matteo Ragni. Collaborations with artists like Enzo Mari and Olimpia Zagnoli have gained international acclaim, with products even being sold at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) Design Store in New York.
The brand also emphasizes sustainability, using FSC® certified paper and complying with the UN Global Compact.
