Okayama University's Weight Training Club Wins Team Championship at 61st Kansai Student Spring Powerlifting Championship, Sugino Updates All-Japan Student Record!

◆ Overview

National University Corporation Okayama University (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Okayama City, President: Yasutomo Nassu) Weight Training Club participated in the '61st Kansai Student Spring Powerlifting Championship' held at Okayama University Ryobi Arena on June 21, 2026, and won the team championship!

Additionally, Aya Kuroda (Literature Department, 2nd year), Nana Iura (Engineering Department, 4th year), Rin Inoue (Engineering Department, 3rd year), Yuuma Okuhara (Engineering Department, 4th year), and Hiroki Sugino (Education Department, 4th year) each won in their respective weight classes, and Sugino was selected as the best male athlete.

The tournament had 86 participants from 10 universities. Sugino updated the All-Japan Student Record in the men's 83kg class for deadlift and total, greatly energizing the venue and adding luster to the team's victory.

After the tournament, Sugino said, 'I'm glad I was able to update my student record safely. I will do my best to aim for consecutive victories at the All-Japan Student Powerlifting Championship (All-Japan Intercollegiate) scheduled for November.'
