Okayama University: FY2025 "Okayama University-originated Venture Title Award Ceremony" Held

◆ Overview

National University Corporation Okayama University (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Okayama City; President: Yasutomo Nasu) held the "FY2025 Okayama University-originated Venture Title Award Ceremony" at the President's Office on the Tsushima Campus on April 9, 2026.

This system was established in FY2021 with the aim of awarding the title of "Okayama University-originated Venture" to venture companies founded by the university's students and faculty, or venture companies founded utilizing research outcomes from the university, and to provide appropriate support to these companies. Supported companies receive preferential treatment regarding intellectual property rights, preferential use of university facilities for a fee, and the ability to register their commercial address at the university's facilities.

In FY2025, two new companies were certified after screening, and President Yasutomo Nasu presented plaques to their respective representatives. The certified companies are "Health Science Evaluation Academy Co., Ltd.," represented by Hiroaki Hamano, Lecturer and Associate Chief Pharmacist at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medical Research Institute, and "L-Create Co., Ltd.," represented by Rei Shinaoka, Specially Appointed Professor at the Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

During the discussion session with President Yasutomo Nasu after the award ceremony, representatives and the President engaged in a lively exchange of opinions regarding future business development and collaboration with the university. President Nasu proposed concrete collaboration ideas, such as linking with athlete data held by other universities, and expressed expectations for the widespread social implementation of research outcomes. Furthermore, looking ahead to future business expansion, he pointed out the importance of securing CXO talent to allow researchers to concentrate on their research, indicating the university's intention to build a system for this purpose.

The university will continue to encourage entrepreneurship by faculty and students, promote innovation, and facilitate the social implementation of research seeds. Please look forward to the initiatives of Okayama University, an open regional core and distinctive research university, Health Science Evaluation Academy Co., Ltd., and L-Create Co., Ltd.
