[Okayama University] Okayama University Weightlifting Club wins group championship at the '56th Kansai Student Rookie Powerlifting Championship'!

◆ Overview The Weightlifting Club of Okayama University (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Okayama City; President: Yasutomo Nasu) won the group division at the '56th Kansai Student Rookie Powerlifting Championship' held at the university's training building on March 22, 2026. In addition, six athletes won in the individual divisions, and Ms. Shun Lae Lae Thant (2nd year, GDP) achieved stellar results by being selected as the best female athlete.

Twenty-five athletes from our university participated in the tournament. Saeki Kuroda (1st year, Faculty of Letters), Shun Lae Lae Thant, Tomohiro Nakamura (1st year, Faculty of Economics), Yosuke Uchida (2nd year, Faculty of Agriculture), Riki Yoshimeguri (2nd year, Faculty of Letters), and Shichu Kusanagi (1st year, Faculty of Science) won in their respective weight classes, adding grace to the club's overall victory.

After the tournament, Shun Lae Lae Thant, who won the women's 57kg class, expressed her future aspirations: 'I am happy to be able to win the rookie tournament. I am grateful to everyone who supported me. Not satisfied with this result, I will grow further and do my best to aim for the championship at this year's inter-college tournament.'

The club showed a reliable performance at this tournament. Let's look forward to the continued success of the Okayama University Weightlifting Club next year!
