◆ Overview
On March 26, 2026, the "Okayama SDGs Study Group," one of the specialized committees of the Okayama Regional Development Council, served by the Library and Public Co-creation Management Division of National University Corporation Okayama University (Headquarters: Okayama City, Kita-ku, President: Yasutomo Nasu), held the "Okayama Prefecture Hometown Future Co-creation Board Game: Mission Card Selection Event in Okayama University - Choosing with You" at the university library, inviting junior high and high school students from the prefecture. Approximately 30 people, including supervising teachers, participated on the day.
This board game is being created across the country with the aim of learning about social issues using SDGs case studies. Currently, the Okayama SDGs Study Group is proceeding with the production of the Okayama Prefecture version, the "Okayama Prefecture Hometown Future Co-creation Board Game," to realize an "Attractive Okayama."
During the selection event on the day, a representative from the Chugoku Bank, who is central to the production of the "Okayama Prefecture Hometown Future Co-creation Board Game" within the Okayama SDGs Study Group, served as the facilitator. First, participants experienced the "Keihanshin Edition Board Game" to understand the characteristics of board games that allow enjoyment while learning about regional issues. Following this, they divided into groups to discuss 40 mission cards (case studies of initiatives for solving regional issues within Okayama Prefecture) planned for adoption in the "Okayama Prefecture Hometown Future Co-creation Board Game" currently under development.
Participants evaluated the cards from perspectives such as their interest and what they would like to introduce to others, and ranked them within their groups. Representatives from each group then presented their first-place chosen cards, explaining the reasons and appeal. Subsequently, a general vote was held for the cards participants felt were best, followed by a reflection session within each group. Participants received activity certificates, which they treasured as proof of their day's learning.
After the selection event, a library tour was also offered to interested participants, who curiously explored the library's specialized books and various facilities.
The "Okayama Prefecture Hometown Future Co-creation Board Game" is planned for completion around Spring 2027, with its use envisioned in a wide range of settings, including junior high and high school research activities, and corporate/local government training.
Please continue to look forward to the initiatives of Okayama University, an open, regional core, and distinctive research university.
