Nagoya City and prove LiFE Sign Agreement on Meal Provision via Kitchen Cars at Designated Evacuation Centers

prove LiFE LLC (Representative Member Shinichi Yamamoto) signed an agreement with Nagoya City on February 4, Reiwa 8, titled 'Agreement on Meal Provision Using Kitchen Cars at Designated Evacuation Centers and Other Facilities.'

The agreement aims to establish a system capable of rapidly delivering warm, reassuring meals to disaster victims even in the event of large-scale disasters such as earthquakes or wind and flood damage that lead to prolonged evacuation.

Nagoya City is one of Japan’s major cities, forming part of the country’s three largest metropolitan areas and serving as a central hub for industry, economy, and transportation, exerting significant influence across the entire Chubu region.

While the city attracts large numbers of people during normal times, it is also expected to see a high number of evacuees during disasters. Therefore, securing food at evacuation centers is considered one of the key challenges in urban disaster preparedness.

Under this agreement, kitchen car operators registered on 'KITCHENCAR’S JAPAN (Kitchen Cars Japan),' a platform operated by prove LiFE, will now be organized to deploy to evacuation centers and disaster-affected areas to provide meals.

Additionally, through ongoing collaboration with local governments during peacetime—including information sharing and joint training—the network will be maintained and strengthened to ensure rapid activation in the event of a disaster.

This agreement marks prove LiFE’s first partnership with a municipal government in the Chubu region.

On the signing day, Mr. Kenji Hirukawa, Director of Nagoya City’s Disaster Management Bureau, and Mr. Shinichi Yamamoto, Representative Member of prove LiFE, attended and exchanged the agreement documents.

Going forward, prove LiFE will continue leveraging its 'KITCHENCAR’S JAPAN' network—currently registering approximately 4,000 kitchen cars nationwide—to promote effective, region-specific disaster preparedness systems and build support frameworks centered on food provision.

Municipalities Nationwide with Disaster Support Agreements

Starting October 2025 with Funabashi City, Chiba Prefecture, followed by Ichihara City, Chiba Prefecture, and Tamura City, Fukushima Prefecture. In May 2026, agreements were also signed with Kawaguchi City, Saitama Prefecture, and Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture.

Further collaborations are planned with municipalities such as Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, and Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture.

This agreement connects kitchen car operators and municipalities through 'KITCHENCAR’S JAPAN,' Japan’s largest kitchen car portal site, with approximately 4,000 registered units. In the event of a disaster, it enables rapid coordination and dispatch of an appropriate number of kitchen cars with suitable menus based on the disaster situation and scale of evacuation centers.

Kitchen cars are equipped with power sources and cooking facilities, allowing them to provide hot meals even in areas where utilities are disrupted.

Origin: The 2019 Typhoon Disaster in Chiba Prefecture

During the 2019 typhoon disaster in Chiba Prefecture, which caused prolonged power outages, prove LiFE dispatched its own and cooperating kitchen cars to the affected areas to provide emergency food relief. While there was strong demand for hot meals, it became evident that individual, ad-hoc business-led efforts were insufficient for sustained response. This experience reinforced the company’s pre-existing idea of systematizing disaster response and became the catalyst for formally developing a system to utilize normally operating kitchen cars during emergencies.
