Rakuiku (operated by Rakuiku LLC, Headquarters: Tokyo, Representative: Seina Okuyama), which advocates for 'making parenting easier and more enjoyable' and operates pop-up childcare services, will open 'Peekaboo,' Tokyo's first (※1) cafe with integrated childcare facilities, in Komagome, Toshima-ku, on Monday, June 1, 2026.
(※1: According to our own research. As a cafe for general customers in Tokyo with integrated childcare functions (permanent childcare staff)).
Concept of Childcare Cafe 'Peekaboo'
Peekaboo is a place where 'you can leave your child and take a breather. Next door, connect with the community.'
As the first permanent base for the pop-up childcare service 'Rakuiku,' it combines a full-fledged childcare space with a cafe space. It is a place where parents can safely leave their children and reclaim their own time, and at the same time, it aims to be a community hub where everyone, regardless of whether they are raising children, can gather.
This is not a 'parent-child cafe.' It is a new type of facility where children grow within society, and the community can naturally get involved in childcare.
Commitment to Space: A 'Third Place' where Parents and Children Can Spend Time Comfortably
The interior of 'Peekaboo' balances a calm atmosphere that blends with the Komagome cityscape and a sense of security where children can play freely.

Cafe Space
It adopts a Nordic modern interior with the warmth of wood. We focused on a spacious seating arrangement where individuals can work remotely or friends can enjoy lively conversations. The design allows a gentle view of the childcare space from each seat.
Childcare Space
This area is packed with Rakuiku's know-how, ensuring safety and stimulating creativity. Moving further into the cafe space, you'll find cushioned floor mats and furniture with rounded corners, creating an open layout where professional childcare staff can easily keep an eye on the children.
Representative Seina Okuyama's Vision
'When moms and dads smile, children smile too. Let's make childcare a more familiar lifestyle, like going to your favorite cafe.' Seina Okuyama, a former flight attendant and now a busy mother herself, launched 'Childcare Cafe Peekaboo' based on her own experiences.
[Biography: Seina Okuyama]
After graduating from university, she worked as a flight attendant and real estate concierge before getting married. While struggling as a mother of two children born in consecutive years, she transitioned to a secretariat member of the Japan Association of New Economy. From her experience of almost suffering from postpartum depression, she conceived the idea of a childcare cafe business where parents can easily leave their children anytime. While operating four pop-up childcare facilities utilizing existing kids' spaces in Tokyo and Kanagawa, she also attended a vocational school to obtain a childcare worker qualification. In December 2024, she won both the Excellence Award and the Membership Award at TOKYO STARTUP GATEWAY.
[Background and Message of Establishment]
Representative: Seina Okuyama
'I myself have experienced days where I felt physically and mentally exhausted, overwhelmed by raising two children in consecutive years alone. In Japan today, there is a lack of places where parents can casually rely on others when they need a little refresh.
'Don't overdo it alone; rely more on those around you.'
Therefore, as a first attempt in Tokyo, we challenged ourselves to create a new business model: a 'childcare-integrated' cafe with professional childcare staff permanently stationed. We aim to make childcare an 'everyday infrastructure' that can be used as casually as stopping by a cafe, rather than a special place.'
Menu by Food Professionals: 'Delighting the Heart and Body'
The supervision and cooking of 'Peekaboo''s food and sweets will be handled by Chef Yukino Katsura, who has honed her skills on the world stage.
