So, what ideals do men planning their weddings envision for their big day, and what specific beauty and grooming care are they undertaking?

Furthermore, to what extent do men wish to utilize professional beauty and grooming services to resolve issues caused by self-treatment?

In response, Eminal Clinic Men's, a specialized hair removal clinic for men, conducted a survey targeting men who had undergone beauty and grooming care for their wedding. The survey, titled "Wedding Beauty for Men Preparing for Their Wedding," aimed to uncover the realities of men's wedding beauty routines for their special day.

The reality of men's wedding beauty for their special day is revealed.

First, when asked, "What prompted you to undertake beauty and grooming care for your wedding day? (multiple answers allowed)," the most common response was "Because it's a once-in-a-lifetime event (73.5%)," followed by "My grooming bothered me during costume fittings and pre-wedding photos (27.5%)," and "Recommended or requested by my partner or relatives (24.3%)."

With over 70% citing "a once-in-a-lifetime event" as the reason, and recommendations from others accounting for less than 30%, it appears that men are highly motivated themselves to prepare for their special wedding day.

Among the various beauty care options, when asked, "What beauty and grooming care did you undertake for your wedding? (multiple answers allowed)," "Skincare (40.2%)" was the most common response, followed by "Dieting (34.2%)" and "Beard hair removal (25.6%)."

Skincare and dieting, which were the most common, are thought to be chosen by many men as relatively easy self-care routines to start in their daily lives. Beard hair removal also ranked high, suggesting that men are incorporating serious beauty and grooming care to improve their sense of cleanliness and photographic appearance on their special day.

So, how long before their wedding did they start these beauty and grooming treatments?

When asked, "Regarding the beauty care you undertook, when did you start, or when did you first undergo it?", the following results were obtained.

While "Eyebrow styling" was concentrated in the month immediately before the wedding, "Dieting" was the only category where over half of the respondents started more than three months in advance, appearing to require the longest preparation period. This shows that many people diligently prepare well in advance for body shape and skin, which take time, compared to eyebrows, which can be groomed immediately before the event.

Regarding hair removal, while "beard hair removal" was relatively often started just before the wedding, hair removal for other areas was often started 1 to 3 months before the wedding.

Similar to the duration, the cost aspect is also a concern. When asked, "Regarding the beauty care you undertook, how much did you spend as wedding beauty?", the following results were obtained.

While beauty and grooming care that are extensions of daily routines, such as "eyebrow styling" and "skincare," tend to cost less than 10,000 yen, specialized treatments like "beard hair removal" and "aesthetic dermatology (Potenza, peeling, etc.)" often cost more than 100,000 yen. A significant difference in costs was observed depending on the content of beauty and grooming care. In particular, "beard hair removal" showed a wide distribution of prices, suggesting that the plans chosen vary depending on the individual's desired effectiveness and treatment scope.

So, when is it ideally thought that beauty and grooming care should be started?

When asked, "For groom's beauty and grooming care for the wedding, when do you ideally think it should be started before the wedding?", the following results were obtained.

* "More than 1 year (15.7%)"
* "9 months to less than 1 year (12.8%)"
* "6 months to less than 9 months (20.7%)"
* "3 months to less than 6 months (23.7%)"
* "1 month to less than 3 months (13.5%)"
* "Less than 1 month (just before) (13.6%)"

The most common answer was "3 months to less than 6 months," followed by "6 months to less than 9 months" and "More than 1 year." While approximately half of the respondents ideally answered "more than six months in advance," only about 20% actually undertook wedding beauty treatments more than six months prior for any beauty care, indicating that many feel they "should have started earlier."
