Tokyu Foundation (Chairperson: Kiyoshi Kanazashi) will begin accepting applications for the "Tama River Beautiful Future Creation Grant" starting August 1.

Established in 1974, the Tokyu Foundation (formerly Tokyu Environmental Purification Foundation) began providing grants in 1975 for surveys, research, and studies necessary for the purification of the Tama River and its basin, which were facing water pollution issues at the time, as well as for the conservation of the natural environment.

Recognizing the importance of increased public awareness, behavioral change, and nurturing the next generation for the conservation and improvement of the Tama River and its basin, the program was changed in 2024 to promote collaboration between the activities of private non-profit organizations (NPOs/NGOs, voluntary associations, etc.) and the research of researchers/research institutions (organizations) to enhance its effectiveness.

We hope this grant will contribute to the advancement of activities and research aimed at realizing a sustainable, environmentally symbiotic society, as considered from the perspective of the Tama River, and to the nurturing of the next generation. We also expect that the outcomes and insights gained will be widely shared with the general public, leading to the creation of a beautiful living environment.

[About the Tokyu Foundation's Environmental Programs]

The Tokyu Foundation's environmental programs have their roots in the "Tokyu Environmental Purification Foundation," established in 1974. As a social responsibility of the developer group that advanced development centered around the Tama Den-en Toshi area, the foundation was established at the initiative of Noboru Goto, then president of Tokyu Corporation, to take concrete actions to restore harmony between "nature and people." At the time, it aimed to actively work with companies, local governments, and residents in the Tama River basin to purify the river, which was suffering from water pollution.

Since 1975, we have been providing grants for surveys, research, studies, and nature conservation activities necessary for the purification and conservation of the Tama River and its basin. Subsequently, we have also engaged in supporting environmental activities and environmental awareness campaigns.

As of the end of fiscal year 2025, we have provided grants for a cumulative total of 1,346 cases, amounting to 1.56 billion yen.
