The Yokohama History Museum has announced its event schedule for the first half of fiscal year 2026. Key events include:

I. History Future Festival: May 23rd (Sat) and 24th (Sun), 9:00-17:00 each day, at the Museum and Bosch Hall. This event, held in collaboration with local activity groups, features a dance contest, marche, food trucks, and art performances. Museum admission is free on these two days.

II. Yokohama Port Opening Memorial Day Special Event "Draw and Color Perry and Dogu Faces!": June 2nd (Tue), 9:00-17:00, at the Entrance Hall. Coloring pages of Perry's face and Dogu faces excavated in Yokohama will be available. Special and permanent exhibitions are free on this day.

III. "Make Dokki!" (Pre-registration required): June 7th (Sun). Learn archaeology through making Dokki (earthenware fragment cookies) with Yamira, an "Okashi Asobi Planner." Morning session: 9:30-12:00, Afternoon session: 13:30-16:00, at Otsuka-Saikachido Archaeological Park. Participation fee: 1,000 yen. Application deadline: May 27th (Wed).

IV. Kamishibai Debut Course (8 sessions, pre-registration required): June 6th, 20th, July 4th, 19th, 25th, August 8th, 29th, 30th (Saturdays/Sundays). This course is for beginners interested in street kamishibai, teaching its appeal through lectures and practice. Participants will gain skills to perform at the museum's "Omoshiroi zo! Kamishibai" event and other venues. Venue: Training Room, Entrance Hall. Participation fee: 5,000 yen. Application deadline: May 27th (Wed).

V. Night Museum for Parents and Children (Pre-registration required): August 22nd (Sat). Explore the museum at night during summer. Time: 17:30-19:00. Venue: Permanent Exhibition Room, Special Exhibition Room. Participation fee: Adults 1,000 yen, Junior high school students and younger 600 yen. Application deadline: August 12th (Wed).

VI. Backstage Tour (Pre-registration required): September 20th (Sun). Tour the behind-the-scenes areas of the museum. Time: 14:00-15:30. Venue: Various locations within the museum. Participation fee: Adults 1,000 yen, Junior high school students and younger 600 yen. Application deadline: September 9th (Wed).

Monthly events (last Saturday of each month: April 25th, May 30th, June 27th, July 25th, August 29th, September 26th):

I. "Omoshiroi zo! Kamishibai": Performances centered on reproductions of street kamishibai, a Yokohama City designated tangible folk cultural property. Time: ①10:30~ ②11:30~ ③13:00~ ④14:00~ ⑤15:00~. Venue: Entrance Hall. Free admission.

II. History Workshop "Magatama and Ajiro-ami Small Basket" (Pre-registration required): Create original works using kits. Enjoyed by both adults and children. Time: ①10:00-12:00, ②13:30-15:00. Venue: Experiential Learning Room. Capacity: 8 people per session. Material fee: [Magatama kit (steatite)] Pink 550 yen, White 500 yen, [Ajiro-ami kit (small basket)] 500 yen.
