Our foundation was established with the aim of promoting and developing sculpture as environmental art, and injecting new vitality into Japan's art and culture. In 1969, The Hakone Open-Air Museum opened in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture, as Japan's first open-air museum specializing in sculpture. It provides visitors with the opportunity to engage with sculptures at a leisurely pace amidst rich natural surroundings.
