The Saga Prefectural Products Distribution Design Public Corporation, based in Saga City and headed by Noriko Ishii, will hold a limited-time POP UP event titled “Imari Fair” at SAGA MADO, a select shop offering carefully chosen products from Saga Prefecture. The event will run for 15 days from Saturday, May 16 to Sunday, May 31, 2026, as part of a project introducing the appeal of different regions in Saga. The POP UP will sell Saga-made products that showcase Imari’s traditions and culinary appeal, including traditional crafts such as Imari ware and Nabeshima ware, as well as locally loved sweets, foods, and tea. This limited-time fair offers visitors the chance to see, taste, and enjoy the charms of Imari. Visitors are encouraged to stop by SAGA MADO during the event period. Selected products include: Chocomaru Black and White by Jogetsudo, priced at 172 yen, an award-winning cookie from the 2025 National Confectionery Exposition containing milk chocolate in the black version and white chocolate in the white version; Imari Kaido by Jogetsudo, priced at 216 yen, a dacquoise sandwiching coffee cream in almond dough and known for its crisp and fluffy texture; Imari Salt Cookies by LIB COFFEE IMARI, priced at 350 yen, handmade over three days using “Namiura no Shio” salt from Hatazu-cho, Imari City; Imari Ware Manju, 5 pieces, by Etoile Horie, priced at 960 yen, a creative confection inspired by Imari and Nabeshima ware with detailed cracked-ice patterns, traditional motifs, and walnut decorations, filled with a gentle blend of egg-yolk bean paste and milk bean paste; Nabeshima celadon sencha cups and saucers by Nabeshima Kosen Kiln, showcasing a celadon technique passed down since the Nabeshima domain moved to Okawachiyama in Imari around 360 years ago in search of celadon porcelain stone; Rim Mug by Hataman Toen, priced at 3,960 yen, a mug designed for ease of drinking and use, with a thin rim for a smooth mouthfeel and a blend of traditional technique and contemporary design; Imari Torimeshi Mix by Drive-in Tori, priced at 648 yen, allowing customers to enjoy the restaurant’s signature chicken rice at home by mixing it with freshly cooked rice, using Aritadori chicken and chicken skin; teas by Nichinan Cha Gei, priced from 1,134 yen, carefully grown and produced in Hinatago on a mountain in Imari without relying on pesticides or fertilizers; Imari Beef Miso Soup by Nishioka Soy Sauce Shop, priced at 271 yen, a rare premium miso soup made with Imari beef that is ready by adding hot water; and Kenjo Shimasute by Hayata Co., priced at 495 yen, masking tape featuring adapted patterns from Imari Nabeshima ware once fired in Okawachiyama as tribute items for the Saga Nabeshima domain during the Edo period.
