■ Employment Support Project Utilizing “On-Site-Driven” Assistive Devices to Support Employment for People with Disabilities

The Techno-Aid Association (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo), with the support of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, is conducting an “Employment Support Project” that involves the utilization and demonstration of assistive devices for independence in the employment settings of people with disabilities. This project aims for manufacturing companies, companies employing people with disabilities, and intermediaries (*) to collaborate and verify the effects and challenges of support devices on-site. A portion of the costs will be subsidized for selected teams. Application consultations and briefing sessions will be held in 5 cities: Hokkaido, Miyagi, Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka. We widely invite participation in the application consultations and briefing sessions.

Flow of the Employment Support Project to Develop Assistive Devices for Independence

* Intermediaries refer to those who stand between people with disabilities, manufacturing companies, and companies employing people with disabilities, supporting demonstration evaluations and device development/improvement. Specifically, this includes "employment support agencies," "job coaches," "professionals providing employment support," "rehabilitation engineers," and "medical/welfare professionals who can adjust support devices to specific disabilities."

■ Opening Up the Possibilities of Assistive Devices to Meet Diverse Needs

In recent years, the needs of people with disabilities have become increasingly diverse and complex. Due to their individual nature, there are many challenges in selecting and introducing optimal support devices, making on-site evaluation essential. This project is based on this background, where assistive device manufacturers and other relevant parties, companies committed to employing people with disabilities, and intermediaries providing employment support form teams to actually use support devices and evaluate their effects and areas for improvement through demonstration.

By widely publicizing the results of the demonstration evaluations on a website, we aim to disseminate and raise awareness of the importance of utilizing support devices in employment settings. Furthermore, through feedback, we intend to contribute to the development and improvement of support devices, ultimately promoting employment for people with disabilities.

■ Public Call for Demonstration Evaluation Teams (Indirect Subsidized Entities)

In this project, we will publicly recruit "Demonstration Evaluation Teams (Indirect Subsidized Entities)" centered around manufacturers of assistive devices. Selected teams will utilize assistive devices and evaluate their effects and areas for improvement.

■ Cost Subsidies for Device Demonstrations

This project is implemented by the Techno-Aid Association with the assistance of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Selected companies/organizations will receive a subsidy for a portion of the costs incurred for device demonstrations.

■ Application Consultations and Briefing Sessions Held in 5 Cities Nationwide

"Application Consultations and Briefing Sessions" explaining the details of this project and application methods will be held as follows:

These sessions are intended for manufacturers/sellers of support devices, individuals engaged in disability welfare work, companies employing (including those considering employing) people with disabilities, and researchers. We look forward to your participation.
