The Shizuoka Branch of the Public Interest Incorporated Association Japan Alpine Club (Branch Manager: Yutaka Suwabe) will hold the 'Trekking Seminar Mt. Amagi' on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Mt. Amagi, the highest peak on the Izu Peninsula and one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains. This seminar offers participants the chance to learn safe climbing while experiencing the early summer nature.

This seminar takes place on Mt. Amagi during the most beautiful season, with pale pink rhododendrons in full bloom and fresh greenery. Members of the Japan Alpine Club will accompany participants, sharing practical knowledge for enjoying mountains safely for a long time and manners for passing on rich nature to the next generation. This program is for everyone from beginners to experienced climbers.

■ Three Features of This Event

1. The Best Season to Walk Through the 'Rhododendron Tunnel'

In late May, the Amagi rhododendrons (Amagi Shakunage) are in full bloom from Mt. Manjiro to Mt. Bansaburo on Mt. Amagi. Participants will experience the profound natural beauty of Izu while enjoying this unique, fantastic landscape.

2. Support from Japan Alpine Club Members

With the theme of 'Tips for Enjoying Mountains for a Long Time,' experienced members will accompany small groups (limited to 15 people) to support their hiking. They will teach techniques for walking without getting tired, knowledge about equipment, how to read maps, and more.

3. Fostering Nature Conservation and 'Consideration'

Beyond just climbing, participants will learn perspectives on protecting the rich ecosystem of a national park. By deepening their consideration for nature, mountain lovers aim to achieve a sustainable mountain environment.
