Sony Life Cup 48th National Ladies Tennis Tournament Prefectural Tournaments Decided!

The National Ladies Tennis Tournament Executive Committee has decided to hold the prefectural tournaments for the 'Sony Life Cup 48th National Ladies Tennis Tournament' (Special Sponsorship: Sony Life Insurance Co., Ltd.), the highest peak of women's amateur tennis in Japan, starting May 16, 2026 (Sat.). We are currently accepting applications for participants. Those interested can apply through the official tournament website (https://www.zenkokuladies.jp/). The National Finals will be held in December 2026 at 'Ariake Tennis Forest Park' (Koto-ku, Tokyo), a sacred place that every tennis player dreams of, which hosts major international tennis tournaments.

From the perspective of 'tournament operation that prioritizes players,' and considering the high temperatures in August and September in recent years, we have postponed the date to avoid the hot season and provide a more comfortable playing environment, taking into account factors such as temperature and court availability in each prefecture. Additionally, at some venues for the prefectural tournaments, Sony Life Insurance Co., Ltd., the special sponsor, plans to implement various support measures for visitors and players. Details regarding the National Finals schedule will be announced as soon as they are finalized.

The 48th Edition, a Ladies Tennis Tournament Boasting Unrivaled Tradition in Japan

This tournament, now in its 48th year since its inception in 1979, aims to contribute to the development of tennis through promoting health and fostering connections with family and community, and realizing a society where women can shine with a sense of purpose. This year, in line with Sony Life's corporate slogan 'Love Your Purpose,' the tournament slogan has been renewed to 'This Challenge is Not Alone.' It conveys the message that all the feelings surrounding the players—companions with whom they've shared sweat, cheers that push them forward, and supportive families—are what sustain tennis as their 'purpose in life.' With a cumulative total of approximately 470,000 participants to date, it is a prestigious women's doubles tennis tournament, a dream stage for female amateur tennis players in Japan.

In the prefectural tournaments, fierce battles will unfold across the country as players aim to become their prefecture's representatives.

At the National Finals held in December at 'Ariake Tennis Forest Park,' a total of 7 people will participate, including the top 3 pairs who have won their prefectural tournaments and secured their representative tickets, along with their coaches. A team competition will be held in a tournament format among 47 teams.
