In preparation for the "63rd Shikinen Sengu (Grand Shrine of Ise's Rebuilding Ceremony)" aiming for the autumn of Reiwa 15 (2033), Ise City and TOKYO FM have partnered to present the Ise City Special Corner "Ise City Special ~Journey to Oise-san's Reiwa 15 Sengu~" on the popular morning program "Blue Ocean."
Program personality Miki Sumiyoshi, along with special guests like Osamu Suzuki, who have connections to Ise, discussed the charms of Ise from their unique perspectives. Furthermore, Sumiyoshi actually visited Ise and participated in the "Okihiki Event," one of the few events related to the Shikinen Sengu that citizens can join. She conveyed the excitement and sense of unity she felt on-site, along with the appeal of Ise's gourmet food and famous spots, directly to listeners.

A Journey Through Ise with Miki Sumiyoshi
The journey began with a visit to Futami Okitama Shrine, a place of purification. Following the ancient custom of "Hamamairi" performed before visiting Ise Grand Shrine, she received a purification prayer before worshipping at the main shrine. After cleansing her mind and body, she savored the local specialty "Ise Udon" at the renowned restaurant "Mameya," and admired the impressive "Okihiki-sha" (ceremonial cart) at the "Ise City History Museum," which just opened in Reiwa 8 (2026). After visiting Geku (Outer Shrine), she visited the warehouse district of Kawasai in the evening and enjoyed local cuisine at "Inase," a restaurant housed in a charming old private house.
On the second day, she participated as a special shrine domain resident in the "Okihiki Event," held once every 20 years. Over 900 people, with the chant of "Enya," pulled the ceremonial cart carrying the timber for the new shrine buildings to Geku. Afterward, for lunch, she enjoyed an "Ise Beef" steak as part of the lunch course at "mirepoix," a creative bistro that offers "Naorai" (a meal shared after a ritual) using food offered to the gods. She then visited Naiku (Inner Shrine), strolled through Oharai-machi and Okage-yokocho, enjoyed the summer-limited "Akabeko Ice," and took a break at "Nakamura Coffee," fully enjoying her 2-day, 1-night trip to Ise.

Ise: A Place Like This
Ise boasts numerous attractions that captivate visitors. Ise Jingu, known as the "spiritual home of the Japanese people," has been cherished by people all over Japan since ancient times. In Oharai-machi and Okage-yokocho, you can enjoy seafood from the Ise-Shima region and local gourmet dishes. The sunrise viewed from Futamiura and Futami Rocks is exceptional and is also known for its blessings of marital harmony and good relationships. The atmospheric town walk in the warehouse district of Kawasai and the view from Mt. Asama, which overlooks the city of Ise, are also highlights. At the "Ise City History Museum," which opened in Reiwa 8 (2026), you can learn about the history and culture that the city of Ise has walked through, including exhibits of the Okihiki-sha.
The city of Ise, steeped in history and culture, is showing increasing vibrancy towards the 63rd Shikinen Sengu. We encourage you to experience the same感動 (emotion) that Sumiyoshi felt by visiting the area yourself.
